Utah bride: Parents kidnapped me
PROVO, Utah - A woman whose parents are charged with kidnapping her to stop her wedding tearfully testified Wednesday that they grabbed her by the hair and told her she was breaking the commandment to honor them.

Lemuel Redd, 59, and his wife Julia, 57, of Monticello, were ordered to stand trial after the testimony from their daughter, Julianna Redd Myers, 21.

Defense attorneys Dean and Rhome Zabriskie said they were talking to prosecutors about a plea bargain for their clients.

"Naturally, they're under a lot of stress, and they want there to be healing in the family," Rhome Zabriskie said, declining to comment on the testimony.

1. Yeah, I'm thinking that if that happened to me (and my mother was
definitely capable of thinking something like that was okay to do), there wouldn't be much healing happening.

What an awful way to treat your child.

2. free, ___, and 21
she has every right to tell her parents to stick it. She is not a child but a legal adult. What a pair of whacked out parents.

3. I'm confused
It says the parents were telling her the fiance was evil, yet they still forced her to marry him? I think someone is a few cards short of a deck but I'm not sure who.

5. No, they were trying to force her NOT to marry him
and at one point, with her pinned against the wall, they started spouting nutball doctrine and calling HER evil.

This is a hideous story that proves there is no crazy like god crazy.

It would be nice if deprogramming were part of the sentence, but since this is Utah, forget that.

6. oh
No wonder I was confused. The whole thing is strange. But, she does look crazy and he does look evil in the picture.
