ATTN: Dem Leadership: "Keeping us up here eats away at families,"

The Washington Post
Updated: 6:14 a.m. CT Dec 6, 2006

WASHINGTON - Forget the minimum wage. Or outsourcing jobs overseas. The labor issue most on the minds of members of Congress yesterday was their own: They will have to work five days a week starting in January.

The horror.

snip

"Keeping us up here eats away at families," said Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.), who typically flies home on Thursdays and returns to Washington on Tuesdays. "Marriages suffer. The Democrats could care less about families -- that's what this says."

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16065625/

I have one thing to say about this, and I hope every Dem leader is also thinking it and perhaps has the guts to say it:

YOU STUPID REPUBLICAN GIT, YOU HAVE THE AUDACITY TO COMPLAIN ABOUT BEING KEPT AWAY FROM YOUR FAMILY FOR 5 DAYS A WEEK FOR A MONTH WHILE TENS OF THOUSANDS OF SOLDIERS ARE BEING KEPT AWAY FROM THEIR FAMILIES 7 DAYS A WEEK FOR 18+ MONTHS AT A TIME 3 OR MORE TIMES IN A ROW?????

WHO THE HELL DID YOU SAY DOESN'T CARE ABOUT FAMILIES?? asshole. idiot.

also...

1. That AH has the option of MOVING! If they don't want to move
and want a PT job, then resign and give someone else your job in DC. I'm quite sure there would be a lot of takers!!!!!

2. REALLY!!!
Welcome to the REAL world asshole! Most of us work 5 days a week and many people have to travel for their jobs TO MAKE A LIVING!

And the soldiers that we're forcing to return to Iraq time and again. The divorce rate for troops has skyrocketed.

What a spoiled bunch of arrogant twits!

3. Oh, cry me a f*****g river.
I can't believe how out of touch with reality these people are. They need to walk a mile in somebody else's shoes for a while and see how much they like it.

This pisses the hell out of me. Waa, waa, waa . . . .

15. That's not true, but it's generally more true of R's than Dem's.
Obviously this particular Republican has outed himself as a sociopath, caring nothing for nobody but himself.

Can you imagine anyone in the private sector (or civil service, for that matter) complaining that they have to work 5 days a week for a month?

:wtf:

6. That's really the most ridiculous thing ever.
Quit your whining, Kingston. Fucking congresspeople are so spoiled, the least they could do is realize it and STFU about their problems. They get no sympathy.

8. Could care less?
That's like "inconceivable."

I don't think it means what you think it means.

Do you mean to say "couldn't care less?"

Or are you just stupid, Mr. Kingston?

And as long as WE are expected to work 40 + hours a week to make ends meet, for a mere fraction of what we're paying YOU, we should at least be able to expect you to DO THE SAME FUCKING THING.

9. Give me a break.

God forbid these people have to actually work for their paychecks. Like the person said above their are soldiers being kept away from their families for a whole year, so shut the fuck up and eat it. You were elected to a position you campaigned for, a position you damn well knew would keep you away from home. What changed? We won Congress. So quite your sour grapes, stop whining, and welcome to new management. You play by our rules now.

Oh, and have a nice cup of shut the fuck up.

14. Not to mention the parents of kids
that they only get to see while the kids are asleep, since they leave for their first job before the kids get up, and come home from their second job well after the kids are in bed, asleep ... unless both work, then Grandma is watching them ... if the parents are lucky ...

16. Gee Jack, maybe you can remember what you say
when more and more Americans each need 2+ jobs to survive... no time for their families, children, each other...

Many would LOVE to work 2 days a week - especially for YOUR salary.

And I don't give a shit what Dems say - they haven't been the elected majority in 6 years. For all the Republicans' talk of being family friendly, little has come of it that has shown support for American families.

The double standard here is astounding.

17. Right on, Harper. The first thing I thought when I read your headline was the soldiers.
How disgusting that the Rethugs are whining about having to work 5 days a week for only months at a time. The problem is that they're spoiled & are accustomed to too much vacation time with more than enough money to live in the lap of luxury.

20. Most folks only see their kids on weekends, dude
they don't have the luxury of a four day weekend every week. I guess you only care that YOU get to see YOUR family, not whether anyone else gets to see theirs. This isn't about families (plural), it's about family (singular, yours)

Shmuck.

21. Unbelievable! It's hard to know what to say when confronted with
such monumental insensitivity. Makes you wonder about the people of Georgia's 1st who were stupid enough to vote for this creep again and again. I guess they all work three days a week and get paid great salaries with fantastic benefits.

k&r

Peace,

26. Final kick. So, John Kerry misspeaks and it's international news for 3 days
A Republican Congressman says EXACTLY what he means, and in doing so insults the troops much more than Kerry's misspeak, and the crickets in the media are working overtime.

I guess I should be thankful it made it onto print media.

The incredible irony of this makes it huge news, IMO.
