Poll question: What is the Purpose and Goal of the Iraq Study Group |
|
Edited on Wed Dec-06-06 10:54 PM by ConsAreLiars
I'm interesting in hearing views of DUers on how they see this latest version of the "blue ribbon commissions" that pop up when the US people seem to have lost confidence in the ruling elite. If I've missed some obvious options, I'll try to add them in before the editing period expires.
(edit syntax, and add another option)

1. I voted for option 1. Can those who believe this supports PNAC... |
|
...maybe cut and paste some of the recommendations which they believe support the PNAC angle? From what I've read (about the first third before life intruded) this doesn't seem like the work of PNAC. In fact, I suspect PNAC wants to stay the hell away from any portion of this, working hard to focus everyone's attention on Iran.

3. nothing but a sop that makes it look as though this maladministration actually |

cares about what is going on--a useless study that is designed to make people feel good, but will accomplish exactly nothing.

5. "salvage the PNAC plan" is close enough. |
|
More precisely: stay the course until after 1-20-09 and then blame the Democratic president for the defeat.

Study groups are for passing exams, not ending wars. Everyone already knew the war had to end and the outcome would be bad for everyone. That's why they voted the 109th Congress out, which in turn is why Iraq is now being "studied."

12. Thanks to all for the votes and comments |

A small sample, but I've seen a lot of comments on the details of the report and wondered how folks understood the purpose of the ISG. Thanks for reaffirming my confidence in the collective wisdom of this forum.
