RE: Mary Cheney's baby: I cannot believe a Christian would ever say this....
....but there's always Dobson and his gang!

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061207/ap_on_go_pr_wh/cheney_baby

Carrie Gordon Earll, a policy analyst for the conservative Christian ministry Focus on the Family, expressed empathy for the Cheney family but depicted the newly announced pregnancy as unwise.

Just because you can conceive a child outside a one-woman, one-man marriage doesn't mean it's a good idea," said. "Love can't replace a mother and a father."

Uh, um, er, uh, uhm, uh huh.....WHAT?

I am speechless.

3. "Mary Cheney's Baby" ... sounds like a horror movie
"Love can't replace a mother and a father"... mm-hmm...

So, we should round up all those orphans being raised by their grandparents, huh? Or what say we start with those single parent households?

I would rather be raised by wolves, than conservo-nazi xtians. The wolves would be more loving and gentle than grandpa

5. "Love" can't replace "discipline", or so they say.
Besides, if it's a boy, who's going to take him into the shower and... well Dobson can tell you the rest.

7. Somewhere someone must have a list
of famous people who were raised by single moms. Seems it's OK for a single woman to raise a child alone as long as the father is dead! Has Dan Quayle checked in on the subject?

8. Damn it, I grew up just fine without a father!
This shit makes me want to scream and pull my hair out. I grew up without a father. Mine left when I was seven years old. Yeah, it was tough, but no matter my RW family, there was still a lot of love there.

As far as I can tell, I'm a normal productive member of society.

There is nothing wrong with growing up without a father, for crying out loud! I didn't lose out or have a worse childhood for it. I had as normal a childhood as anyone else. I liked KISS, I played softball, I rode my bike, went to the movies (sneaked in to see Jaws) and did normal kid stuff. I wasn't traumatized, I didn't suffer, I didn't go without (unless you count that stupid easy-bake oven I never got) and I went about my life just like every other kid did.

:banghead:

9. Oh yes, that's so true. I mean, would it not be better for a child
Edited on Thu Dec-07-06 01:46 AM by SeattleGirl
to be raised by an alcoholic father and a physically abusive mother, than by two people of the same sex who love each other AND their child???? :sarcasm:

Edited to add: Hope it's clear I was responding to what the person quoted by the OP said, not to the OP.

13. 'Oh, but it's better to have a father'
I hate that line. Having my father for a father would have been horrible. He was emotionally dysfunctional and unable to even be a father. Now, would someone please explain to me like I'm stupid how having that kind of father would have been better for me?

This shit drives me nuts.

14. I was watching AC 360 this evening, and this was one of the topics.
AC had Michael Savage from "The Stranger" (local weekly here in Seattle), and some woman from some fundie place. She kept talking about all these studies that "proved" that kids did better with dads and moms, and kids who grow up with gay parents turn to crime, drugs, etc. Michael (who is the sex columnist for The Stranger) said that those studies had all been debunked, and listed some other studies. This fundie woman dismissed the studies because "they were done by extreme liberal places". AC was questioning her too and she would not back down. She was such a tool. :eyes:

10. mary cheney's baby we all went
born of no mother or father of note,
between times and divine destinies appointment,
shorn by no other than evilmost vote,
cut by the views that rate men's annointment.

women live free, dick or they mock,
armoured for life, WMDith more than rocks.
Hate all thy mother, 'til born again,
war on no other, ends in our den.

Born of no family, outside of us all,
shopping for shoes, at the same mall,
lies of her destiny, warred in the thrall,
vied for the blues, hate that them all?

Cheney's bloody massacre across the asian desert,
wars born a child shall we eat the just dessert.

I am speachless as well, poetically lacking
time for the pillow, snoring and sacking. :-)

11. To Conservative Christians
Love doesn't matter. It's only their blind faith in 'the good old days'. Mean while, they don't question that this information is coming from Paul of Tarsus, who enjoyed killing Christians until one day he had a seizure and "saw Jesus". Other than that, Jesus didn't say SHIT about gay marriage.

Love can't replace a father. So you'd rather have a father beating the kid? But I guess that is better than two moms, right? Fucking r-tard.

And make the distinction between right-wing and left-wing Christians. I consider myself Christian, but I sure as hell don't identify with this moron. (Christian to the extent I live as Christ taught. The other supernatural stuff is dubious superstition at best.)

They are ANYTHING but Christians in the truest sense of the word.

15. If your left speechless...
...Its a common reaction from people of any intelligence when they hear such stupid and moronic shit come out of the mouths of people involved in Kults like FOF.

How someone like Carrie Earll feels about what happens in someones private life, who excludes FOF and the likes, is at the very least, irrelevant. I am not surprised at all that one of FOF high priestess made such a comment, its pretty common place for them to redicule in places that they dont have their nose in...

DobsonCo can FUCK OFF! They nees to Focus on their own damn families!
