Iraqi politicians, citizens play down significance of new report on U.S. policies in Iraq war

The Associated Press
Published: December 6, 2006

BAGHDAD, Iraq: Iraqi citizens said Thursday that a U.S. advisory's group
recommendation that Washington move toward military disengagement in Iraq
offered little hope of an improvement in their lives anytime soon.

On the streets of Baghdad on Wednesday, skepticism seemed widespread.

"This report is no different than others we have received from national unity
conferences or regional conferences in the last three years, ones that came up
with nice words that had no effect," said Khalid Abdel-Rahim, 42, a Sunni Arab
employee of Iraq's Industry Ministry.

Hadi Muhsin, 50, the Shiite owner of a stationary shop in Baghdad, said: "This
report comes after the deaths of tens thousands of Iraqis. It doesn't recommend
the total withdrawal of U.S. forces or set a timetable. ... I don't think this report
will bring positive change. We don't even know if President Bush will follow it."

1. The report wasn't for the Iraqi's
it was for the US -- to provide political cover and to determine our ongoing direction.

Many important issues (such as linking negotiations with Syria and Iran, Iraq, and Israel) only marginally concern Iraqi's directly -- but concern the US.

2. The "report" was to help the GawdPoppy cover junior's ass!
The Iraqis aren't as stupid as Bush's chumps here in the US are!

The "Report" is so full of loopholes that it is meaningless bullshit. Bush will select the items that accommodate his and the PNAC/EXXON's goals in Iraq and discard the balance of the "report". The "Report" was another sham to fool the foolish, like the biased 9/11 "Report" that wasn't allowed to look toward the White House for the truth about 9/11.

3. Well the common man on the streets of Baghdad seem to know
what is going on. They are right. This will not improve their life. With their neocon constitution and the recommendation to privatize their oil fields, the Iraq citizen will have a very poor life.
