To those who think god put w in office, did god screw up?
I have heard many born again bush supporters say that god himself put bush in the white house at this time to save America. You can't make this stuff up, millions thought it, and millions apparently still do. But what of those who have turned on bush, or finally realized that bush screwed them? Why would god put him there, only to have him screw you over?

I'd like to pick the brains of those who no longer love bush, after voting for him twice, I know a few, my own brother for instance. They are in a collective state of shock, and it must be shaking some of them, not many, but some of them to their very core.

My brother is one of these people, repentant for supporting bush, but trapped in a twilight zone of betrayal and confusion and the loss of a once lofty dream, the dream of a Christian leader of a Christian nation. My brother STILL supports bush though, he's mad at him, but he still supports him, some people are just so thick headed that you can NOT get through to them, they are the bitter dead enders, the 30%ers.

If the creator of all the universe truly did put dubya in the white house, I have to seriously question his/her/it's wisdom.

1. Actually
God had the day off that day. His Son was running things. We all know what can happen when the son takes over for the father.

2. I heard one better back in 2003
when I was protesting the war. One religious nut yelled out that Bush was the Second Coming of Christ!

I don't know what that fundy thinks now, but another fundamentalist I recently ran into had scriptural citations proving that Bush is the anti-Christ.

3. The FSM works in mysterious ways.
We mere mortals cannot comprehend the magnificence of his noodly appendages as they act in the world. We merely follow the directions on the side of the box, use the right amount of water, and try not to overcook.

5. I find it funny we use religion to escape responsibility for our actions.
Oh, God did it.

Oh, the Devil made me do it.

The fact is God is nowhere in the voting booth.

As much as people want to believe God put Bush in the White House, the fact of the matter is to enter the White House requires that you win the votes of the Electoral College. George W. Bush won because we put him in the White House, not because God did anything. In a nation that claims to be democratic, the onus of responsibility rests with the people because that is ultimately where governments derive their power.

9. Certainly,
the fundamentalists write this off as a true test of faith. God brought them W as a test. Either W is the greatest leader ever and the devil-loving democrats questioned him and made up evil lies about him; or God works in mysterious ways and they just have to have faith that He knows what is best for all of us.
