Iraq violence has been underreported
I would be for impeaching Bush/Cheney for this alone.
I realize it may not be a "high crime" but added together with cooking the intel leading up to this fiasco, there is obviously a concerted effort to deceive us.

Study says violence in Iraq has been underreported

By Jonathan S. Landay
McClatchy Newspapers

WASHINGTON - The Bush administration routinely has underreported the level of violence in Iraq in order to disguise its policy failings, the Iraq Study Group report said Wednesday.

The bipartisan group called on the Pentagon and the director of the U.S. intelligence community to immediately institute a new reporting system that provides "a more accurate picture of events on the ground."

The finding bolsters allegations by Democratic lawmakers and other critics that the Bush administration has withheld or misconstrued intelligence that conflicted with its Iraq policy while promoting data and claims that supported its positions.

Those allegations date back to President Bush's contention before the March 2003 U.S.-led invasion that Saddam Hussein was hiding illegal nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs. His claim proved to be unfounded.

1. Berlin Wall crumbles
Lindbergh lands in Europe.

certainly not surprising in the least. I'm still waiting to hear the right wing spin on this though. Ought to be entertaining...

2. It's not a crime to lie to the American people
If it were we could jail like 2/3rds of the politicians including plenty of our own people.

3. Too many 'shreds' of evidence for impeachment, SHRED!
Underreported is an understatement, IMHO!

4. Whatever charges members go with, EVERYTHING belongs in the court of public opinion.

Bush and Cheney have committed war crimes and conducted their criminal surveillance program in plain sight -- IMO, these are the simplest and most compelling of the countless, valid, grounds for impeachment.

Whatever Members of Congress include in the articles of impeachment they introduce (and I firmly believe SOMEBODY in the House will wake up and introduce articles), everything must be part of the public debate.

Impeachment is a political, not a legal, process. Keeping "uncharged" offenses out of the mix does not apply. The public's outrage has many roots. Everything must be on the table in the court of public opinion -- and the court of public opinion will be a key driver of the outcome, whatever the specific charges.
