1. Well since then we learned how to make Nuclear weapons
And we put a man on the moon.

What were you hoping we would learn?

3. I don't know. Unfortunately, we attacked Iraq which not only was based on a lie
but was a violation of international law

2. Yes, oil can still leak from a sunken battleship 65 years later
Other than that, we seem just as stupid as ever.

5. The only thing history teaches us is that we don't learn from history.
That's a paraphrase from somewhere - don't know who said it originally but its pretty true.

6. Never quickly will the human race move forward, but move forward we do.
Slowly, collectively we learn bit by bit from history. Each generation allows itself a greater perspective on the human condition than the generation before it.

Never quickly will the human race move forward, but move forward we do. One specific and isolated event, however tragic will never be the catalyst for our collective human education-- it takes many of these events played out over a span of time. But it seems we do learn. The "freaks" of 100 years ago are now mainstream members of society. The number of disenfranchised members of the human race grows smaller every day (though it appears to be at an agonizing pace).

I have more faith in humanity than is probably warranted-- specific humans? Not so much. But as a collective, I think we're moving forward.
