The Kumbaya choir is making me ill.
Since the ISG Report was released, we have been treated to a steady drumming of the bipartisan two-step by people who sat as pundit or "consultants" or practically professional commentators (Alan Simpson comes to mind) and who very much contributed to the degeneration of political discourse in this nation. Now that they have brought the nation to the brink of destruction, we hear that we should all join hands for a chorus of "Kumbaya." Fine. I'll agree that this has to turn around. What is bothering me most is that these people were willing to play the partisan card when the important decisions needed to be made initially. Not a whimper of protest over the development of policy. Careful to never criticize a monumentally bad president and the sycophants who surrounded him until he became a lame duck, these people make me ill. Their patriotism is being touted but these people who could wield some influence clammed up and played the party game when it really could have made the difference for the nation and the world.

1. It's being shoved down our throats..
Feingold was really good on Olberman last night when he addressed this. There were no anti-war members of the ISG.

This is just a charade to make it look like the chimp is looking for a bipartisan plan on the war. It's all smoke and mirrors.

2. Seder just played Russ's sound from Countdown
As soon as Feingold's attitude toward fixing this country becomes the prevailing one, we will be back on top in no time.

3. There is an element of deciet to it
But there will be an element of deciet to any bipartisanship no matter how genuine. We know how Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh and Karl Rove think - they don't want to beat us, they want to eliminate us.

On the other hand, if there ever is going to be bi-partisanship it's going to have to start with an element of deciet backed by the hope that the more sane parts of the Republicanoid party will come to the fore.

4. This report will have no effect
The Republicans wanted it so they could try and save some face but Bush will have none of it. That was apparent to me by his body language when they presented it. Bush will continue to run his own party and the country into the ground, regardless of Kumbaya

5. Agreed, to some extent

Where did these people come from, who chose them and who put this together? The word "Bi-partisan" ALWAYS gets attached to this group--but who chose them? The Carlyle Group?
it seems to me like this was put together by the other side to try and give some coherence to Bush's faulty game plan. Now whatever Bush does on this has "bipartisan support?"
What theyre trying to do is spread the blame around here to cover Bush's ass. Bush is desperately seeking to develop some "bipartisan consensus" or look like he is anyway, because of his incredibly low job approval rating. He and his party lied our way into this, now that its a disaster, they want to bring in "Dems" to give them some windowdressing in the dress shop of the Titanic
Think how much different this could all be if Bush and Cheney were to resign saying it was all their fault and now the world can move on. A pleasan fantasy and no more, but that would sure improve things VERY quickly. There won't be any good solution while Bush is in power because he is the one who has to implement whatever policy happens and he's not good at that. The same for the diplomatic suggestions--the Bush administration's not very good at diplomacy either, so they won't do that. Bush has painted us into a box by refusing to deal with the other side.
Anything done will have to be done by Bush. And he's committed to proving himself right at America's expense.

7. I'm not too concerned about all this BP rhetoric. I think we all know
what Shrub is saying behind the scenes, andthe little bit I saw of the House & the Senate yesterday didn't showany BP that I could find. Then there was the day after the election when Shrub was all nicey nice and talking about how he was going to work with the new Dems in his welcome speech in the Am, and by the afternoon, he was back to do it my way or the highway attitude!

It's all BS, and it too will pass.

8. IT'S BULLSHIT! Now that they know their lame duck idiot
Edited on Thu Dec-07-06 09:46 AM by in_cog_ni_to
has completely screwed up the world, lied about invading Iraq and is a damn WAR CRIMINAL...they want to join together for "the good of the country." BULL! They're trying to schmooze their way out of INVESTIGATIONS, INDICTMENTS, IMPEACHMENTS, AND IMPRISONMENTS! Just listen to Baker. He KNOWS this psycho in the WH is a war criminal and is trying his best to cover for the psycho by "bringing the country together." I didn't see Baker worrying about the divisiveness in 2000 when he helped the psycho STEAL THE DAMN ELECTION!

I hope the Democrats are smart enough to NOT fall for his crap.
