Bush says U.S. ‘will prevail’ in Iraq
President addresses study report at news conference with Blair

BREAKING NEWS

Updated: 17 minutes ago
WASHINGTON - President Bush, standing alongside chief Iraq war ally Tony Blair of Britain, asserted Thursday that the coalition forces "will prevail" in Iraq, saying success depended on victory over extremists across the "broader Middle East."

"It's bad in Iraq," Bush said. "I've been telling the American people how tough it is and they understand how tough it is. The question is, 'Do we have the ability to change as the enemy has changed?'"

24. That is correct. By his definition, leaving is the same as losing.
He will spend the next two years find ways to keep our troops there.

22. Not really
To be greater in strength or influence; triumph

Thesaurus:
prevail - prove superior; "The champion prevailed, though it was a hard fight"
triumph win - be the winner in a contest or competition; be victorious; "He won the Gold Medal in skating"; "Our home team won"; "Win the game"

http://www.thefreedictionary.com/prevail

It is pretty much the same. There is no backtrack there and nothing to be thankful for. It is the same bullshit.

6. "victory over extremists across the "broader Middle East."
Like victory over the people who think that they have a right to their own country.

He might as well be living on another planet.

Same old tired bullshit rhetoric, from the same old tired bullshit artists. I guess it hasn't occurred to George and Anthony that few people are buying it anymore.

10. Well
Considering that his pals and him are making a lot of money by sewing CHAOS in the Middle east it makes perfect sense to spread it, and let his defense industry and oil guys clean up..

Why doesn't he just say, "Look, if we leave I won't be able to milk this for all it's worth.. you don't want to cheat all my corporate pals out of all that money do you?"

Better yet, "I've made a mess of things, the reputation of the US is at stake and I will be stepping down from the Office and letting someone who knows what they are doing solve this for the good of all mankind.." :)

Nope, never happen..

I thought TonyBliar was going to Pull troops?

I'm so sick of his saying he's "telling Americans" whatever.

Right up there with "My job is to protect the American people."

No, cretin, your job is to protect the Constitution. :argh: MKJ

15. So Bush is going to wait until he gets a study that he *likes*
Asked at a joint news conference when the president would start to carry out recommendations for a change, Bush noted that other studies were still under way by the Pentagon, the State Department and the White House National Security Council.

He said he would make major policy decisions "after I get the reports"

18. Ah, now we ain't getting out until we have victory
over the tersts and surgeons all over the middle east. And just yesterday snow-job had set a whole list of Iraq-only goals (impossible goals, but limited to Iraq.) I'm sure the troops stuck for - well forever - in Iraq are delighted that nothing is going to change, there is no way they are coming home until these criminal fools are dislodged from power.

19. "As I stated in 2003, our goal is to get out of Iraq. And we can
achieve this goal! Now, some nay-sayers will say that we can't do...can win this goal. But, I'm here to tell you, we can. And we will. As we have always said, pulling all of our troops out of Iraq is a noble goal and we can do it!" You know, this addled-brain coke-head may actually work himself around to believing he was the leader of the anti-war movement. Now, all his goal has ever been is a "self-governing Iraq" and "victory over extremists in the broader Middle East", whatever the hell that means. Well, Iraq is self-governing (sort of) and "victory over extremists" is such a nonsensical proposition that it can just be declared - who is to say it isn't true? Who even knows what it means? So, we should be able, under the stated conditions, to have the troops home before Easter! Bush can be known as the "Peace-ifier"....
