(Ohio) State senator got workers' comp break for his firms
Columbus - State Sen. Jeffry Armbruster twice asked the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation to lower his insurance rates for his gas stations, records released Wednesday show.

Records also show that two other legislators - State Sen. Lynn Wachtmann and former State Sen. Mark Mallory, now mayor of Cincinnati - pressured BWC to lower the medical in surance rates of busi ness constituents. The records, requested by The Plain Dealer, indi cate that the firms' claims experiences didn't justify a reduced rate.

In one case, BWC erased a death claim filed by Bertke Electric Co. in Cincinnati after Mallory interceded.

Armbruster, a North Ridgeville Republican, asked for a reduction in insurance rates for his companies in March, according to correspondence e-mailed between BWC workers.
