What the hell can be done to stop this maniac, or make him listen to reason? I don't think he is capable of doing it on his own. Impeachment will take way too long; 11 Americans died yesterday. I caught the end of an interview with Tom Friedman (Imus, I think) and he was saying the only way to make B*sh come around is if moderate Republicans force him to do so. Friedman didn't elaborate how this would work, why they could have this influence on him. Well, we have to figure out how the hell to make this crazy, destructive maniac face reality and address this global catastrophe he's created.

BTW, the New York Post had a cover story in 2003, mocking the French as "cheese-eating surrender monkeys"; today's Post had Baker and Hamilton's heads superimposed on "surrender monkeys". Well, the French were RIGHT and the pro-war B*shites and neocons were WRONG on Iraq then. If only we had listened to the French. Likewise, the reality-based ISG "surrender monkeys" are right, and the NY Post is carrying water for B*sh. The insult came straight from on high.

What can be done?

But this president may not be in much of a hurry to accept Baker's ideas about that — or much else. Asked if Baker would help implement the report, a spokesman for Mr. Bush said, "Jim Baker can go back to his day job."

4. Same as for the last 6 years
nothing. Well, we can complain to each other on DU, at least for now. Within a few weeks there won't be any liberal radio shows to listen to.

6. He's been told what to do, and really has no say.
Rumsfeld and Cheney still own him, and aren't going to let him do anything that could result in permanent bases being removed from Iraq. That's all that matters, not people.

7. seriously? nothing
nor should we.
unfortunately, things must get bad enough that even GOoPers will realize that brainless, mindless, ethics-challenged, immoral, illegal, inane, and insipid leaders like George W. are not worth any more support.

if (if we have time and the world can survive) we simply sit back and wait, the GOP will recognize that Bush is the worst thing since, well, everything.

9. The American people have got to stand up and demand it....
To get the message to President Asshat - and to the Democrats - that we want out, now. Civil disobedience, protests, general strikes - whatever. WE'VE got to starve the beast, because it seems rather apparent now that this war isn't going to end anytime soon.

10. He's digging his own grave. We should take away his shovel.
Doing nothing is our strong suit here. After awhile, we should act to bring the troops home and actively work diplomatically to rebuild our countries.
