14. There are still a too many racists here in Texas. I remember when I moved here in '81

the N word was used by some of these "good old boys" like it was some sort of accepted thing around us "white" folks. I was shocked. Coming from Nebraska you NEVER heard that, unless it was some lowlife who you wouldn't have anything to do with anyway.

But these guys in my workplace would smile and joke with black folks one second and as soon as their back was turned would call them THAT word like it was part of everyday speech.

Most have stopped that (not all) and now Muslims and Arabs are the new N.
