ABE LINCOLN Hates the Troops!
Edited on Fri Dec-08-06 12:43 AM by liberalpragmatist
Given how much the right (and some Democrats) howled that John Kerry had "insulted the troops," I find it funny to read then-Congressman Abraham Lincoln's words in the 1840s, during the Mexican-American War.

"God of Heaven has forgotten to defend the weak and innocent, and permitted the strong band of murderers and demons from hell to kill men, women, and children, and lay waste and pillage the land of the just."

1. Strongly against the Mexican War.
"Battle Cry of Freedom" is a great book to read about those days.

Even US Grant thought it was a very unjust war.
