new A-P-Ipsos poll: Bush dissatisfaction has climbed to an all-time high of 71 percent
Bush's Iraq approval at new low
Friday December 8, 2006

WASHINGTON President Bush's approval rating on Iraq has slumped to a new low.

Just 27 percent of those questioned in a new A-P-Ipsos poll approve of the way he's handling the war. At the same time, dissatisfaction has climbed to an all-time high of 71 percent.

Ohio State University's John Mueller, who's an authority on presidents and public opinion, says Bush's support is continuing to erode and there no reason to think it can be turned around.

The poll also indicates nearly two-thirds of the American people do not think Iraq is going to end up with a stable, democratic government. Only nine percent think the Iraq war will end with a clear-cut victory.

3. They ain't seen nothing yet.
Wait until the Dems start the congressional investigations. With Iraq getting worse by the day and Bush still talking about "winning". The only question in my mind is how will Bush and Cheney leave office? I don't see how they can serve out their terms.

4. Do you think this means
there is a chance that the people will call for impeachment, thereby lighting a fire under our timid members of Congress?

7. The 9% are the stockholders in the War - the contractors, Halliburton
and the rest. Of course they support it. It's been terrifically handled for them.

8. I Think You've Got That Wrong
The stockholders in defense industry firms don't care about victory. The money is spent by the gov't either way. Victory is irrelevant to them. The longer we stay, win or lose, the better it is for them.

6. I made this prediction yesterday:
Republicans in congress will seek to have Bush step down (in threat of impeachment) in early 2008. They are the ones with the most to lose in the 2008 elections.

10. Nah
They will mostly stick with him right to the end. The Permanent Republican Majority cooked up by that genius Rove will gradually relegate the party to a regional base in the south, push it ever further along the fundaloon theocratic continuum, but continue to give it enough support to make it very difficult for them to change course. The Democratic Party will continue to take seats from them each election cycle, consolidating its gains in the west, but will also inherit the corporate greed heads who will abandon the ineffective Republicans. Our fight for a progressive america will be inside the Democratic Party.

13. I Think You Are Absolutely Right Except For The Timing
I think it will happen in '07, and beyond that, I'd guess that it will happen before July.

I certainly do not think that George W. Bush will be the President of the United States on January 1, 2008.

9. Hey, another accomplishment that he beat his dad on!
The lowest Poppy ever got down to was 29% approval. More bragging from the son at Kennebunkport this Christmas, methinks.
