I'm so freaking sick of Bush and his stupid inability to admit mistakes or adjust tactics. What I fear is that more of our men and women will die because Bush is freaking STUPID and STUBBORN. What possible "reason" could he have to ignore everything the Iraq Study Group has to say?

I really, truly DESPISE that man!

My take on it is that he's been compromised by someone who doesn't have the best interests of the US at heart.

1. If he did something different now, that could be construed
as an admission that what he was doing before was a mistake. And as we all know, he doesn't make mistakes. Remember the press conference where he was asked what mistakes he'd made in his first term and he couldn't think of any?

4. Ya beat me to it.
It might not even be that he thinks there's anything to admit: If in his warped little mind he knew he was right before, then by God he must still be right. And it's he responsibility of reality to conform to his rightness.:eyes: :puke:

6. He also said the best thing that happened to him while in office
was catching a freaking fish on the ranch (and it never happened). :eyes:

The man is a lunatic.

2. He's been a failure all his life
one of the hallmarks of some failures is the inability to compromise, to change direction when a situation changes.

5. I think he's just massively selfish
And his whacked-out ego demands stubbornness.

I'm guessing the drugs and alcohol don't help much either

And he's not going to let anyone tell him how to do his job. Besides, changing his mind would be "weak."

9. Whoever it is....the stubborn streak is killing the GOP. Someone from the Pubic Ranks will
soon appear at the WhiteHouse to slap him on the noggin as happened 5 years ago in Crawford...he blamed it on the Pretzel at the time.

But soon, the GOP, who has the most to lose, will have to do something drastic/draconian to make Bush unnerstan he fuckin up...or, they form a group to renounce him and impeach....

The Dems won't have to do a thing...Its them Pubs who have intense pressure at the moment to do something with the loose cannon in the main gun deck below. The GOP has no choice.....

It's why he refuses to consider anything beyond the wretched mess we have now.

12. Right. I think that both Johnson and Nixon had the same mindset.
They just could not see the truth about Vietnam and did not want to be the first president to "lose" a war. They seemed to believe that if they escalated the war a little bit more that somehow, beyond reason, they could tip the balance.

16. stubbornness
It's in my sig line, which notices but does not explain the problem:

"Like all weak men, he laid an exaggerated stress on not changing one's mind." --

William Somerset Maugham

I guess weak men mistake consistency for strength.
