While number 2 is technically true, it's unethical to tax poor people more than rich people. It's also pretty stupid, given that every dollar counts when you're poor. These people need to survive.

Number 1 is just fantasy. Always has been, and always will be. Rich people hoard that extra money so it doesn't circulate and it doesn't result in more taxes.

the rest of us. Never mind that we collectively are the only reason THEY are alive since they lack the skills to survive without us.

Starving the poor has never been much of a concern to the rich. The worst of them view us as lice.

Keynesian theory. The rich tend to keep their money and/or offshore it. Bad for the economy. The poor are forced to spend it. Good for the economy - the multiplier effect and all.

Keynes also posited that government spending was an important factor in a healthy economy - something that was used to attempt to end the Great Depression.

But the Republicans liked the Great Depression. I've actually talked to Republicans who would like to create a new Great Depression because they thought it was such a good time.
