Could it be?
Poor President Bush......

You know he has to hate being forced to pay attention to the mess he created. I am thinking that all along the chaos has been intentional. He was settting up the next president to be the fall guy for the withdrawel from Iraq. He was setting up the next admnistration with the task of cleaning up his horrific mess. He has never intended that he would actually have to do something about it himself.

So he will drag his heels--do nothing substantive...unless Congress forces him. And now they may be forced to....because Iraq is spiralling faster and farther than any had envisioned.

He does not want to fix this. Getting him to admit it is bad in Iraq does not equate into a desire to make a substantive difference. A substantive difference would be to engage Syria and Iran.....and he has all but ruled that out.

Theres nothing more to it.

When the troops leave, the contractors have to leave.

6. Every single DAY he drags it out is a few more million in pure corporate PROFIT.
He's got no reason to end it, and his buddies have BILLION$
of reasons to keep it going.

2. OH, I think he wants to hang the albatross of Iraq
on someone else's neck, that's for sure. But I don't think the country will go along with waiting two more years for that to happen.

3. blaming everything solely on Bush neglects the pivotal role of corporations . . .
in creating the mess . . .

corporations that make ghastly profits from the Iraq war -- and from increasing oil prices . . .

corporations that pollute the air, water and land with no regard for the environment or for the future . . .

corporations that cavalierly move jobs overseas to increase shareholder profits, regardless of the impact on American workers . . .

corporations that create all kinds of new chemical compounds that pollute the environment and cause diseases like cancer . . .

corporations that degrade the food supply with genetically modified crops . . .

corporations that overfish the oceans to the point of destroying fish stocks . . .

corporations that endanger consumers through horrific factory farming practices . . .

corporations that write the laws "regulating" their own industries in ways that pretty much allow them to do whatever they wish in pursuit of bigger profits . . .

and on, and on, and on . . .

unless we recognize how toxic the current system of corporate capitalism is, and take drastic steps to reign it in, the problems we face today will seem like mere annoyances in future decades . . .

4. Great point!
Edited on Fri Dec-08-06 02:18 PM by RiverStone
I've grown so accustom to raging against the BushCo machine and calling for impeachment of the lot, I have neglected the corporate connection. Just as viable and criminal.

Question: Is there a website you can recommend which sums up (or illustrates) above talking points.

Thanks OneBlueSky! :yourock:

5. you might want to check out ReclaimDemocracy.org . . .
there are also other sites that more thoroughly address the impact of corporations on the environment . . . but this is a good site that speaks to corporate personhood and other issues . . .

7. Running out the clock.
He had to pretend that he wasn't aware of the ISG's every move in order to put us off until the day their report was "unveiled." Now he gets to pretend that he needs time to study it. Meanwhile, it's business as usual--day after day of death, misery, and growing hatred of America while his cronies profit.
