9. "Our heros"? You're kidding, right?
Leahy and Reid let Specter and McCain take the lead on the MCA. Specter and McCain raced to be the first to give the WH exactly what it wanted.

Specter knew that his amendment was a ruse when it was first debated. The Republicant's run a tighter ship, they knew what the vote count was.

This bill is going nowhere fast.

10. Leahy's plea for the retention of habeas was clearly passionate...
more so than many standing around him at the time, his points regarding it's loss every bit as much so; to suggest Leahy & Reid "let" republicans do anything in that phony-ass rubber stamp environ is to have missed the point contained within the concept of a rubber stamp senate imo

while one cannot deny the wheels may turn slowly, i do not believe the "bill is going nowhere fast"

12. OK maybe I don't understand it. I haven't kept up to date on
what has been going on. If it's just hash, why would Leahy take part? Can you say more?

18. noble gesture, but if they're going to attack problems piecemeal . . .
then they're planning to accomplish the minimum possible to keep the rabble from revolting . . . there are many things wrong with the Military Commissions Act beyond habeus, and the whole mess should be tossed and replaced (if it's really necessary) with something more, well, Constitutional . . . same for the Patriot Act . . .
