what's with all the attacks on Carter lately
wingnuts have been accusing him of one nonsensical thing or another every few days lately.

1. He's on a book tour, so he's doing lots of interviews, making lots of
sense, and they feel a need to bash.

22. Rabbi Michael Lerner summed it up well...
This is what drives them ape-shit about Carter...

"Carter recognizes the mistakes on both sides—precisely what the “You are either for us or against us” crowd in both camps cannot stand. Nuance, recognition that both sides have at times been insensitive to the legitimate needs of the other, insistence that both sides need to take steps that are currently rejected (by Hamas in the Palestinian world, by the Israeli government in the Jewish world—this is what makes for rational discussion."

18. I don't know but I've noticed something over the past 2-3 years.
Maybe its my imagination but it seems that there are 3 popular yet well-respected Dems that seem to go out on a limb on their own and don't seem to ever get any support from other high-ranking politcos. The 3 I've noticed this about are Jimmy Carter, Al Gore, and Howard Dean. They seem to like each other, support each other, and have been seen talking with each other.

Another clique, for example, is the Kerry-Kennedy group.

Back to the point, though. Yes, I wonder why they are attacking him. He must be saying something right---at least that's how I see it. I also believe that on the grounds of media ratings and hype we live in a day in age where everyone and everything is being judged and subliminally or subconsciously sentenced and hung rhetorically without even a trial. Pretty sad, IMO. I know they don't care but many people's lives become devastated only for the ratings. Some is legitimate--some is not.
