In his book, AK-47: The Weapon That Changed the Face of War, author Larry Kahaner traces the rifle’s role in wars from Vietnam to Iraq. According to Kahaner, no tool in the history of warfare has spread so much raw power to so many people in such a small amount of time. Mr. Kahaner discusses the book with Peter Singer, who directs a project on 21st century warfare for the Brookings Institution.

Eve Ensler, Insecure at Last: Losing It in Our Security Obsessed World
Talking about security and what it means to be free, Ensler examines the post-9/11 world, drawing on her personal experience and on the stories of Afghan women, hurricane Katrina survivors, and anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan.

James Traub,The Best Intentions: Kofi Annan and the UN in the Era of American World Power
Traub details Kofi Annan's successes and failures as the seventh Secretary-General of the United Nations. Mr. Traub, who has spent years writing about the UN, describes Annan as a sincere humanitarian and shares some of the coversations the two had during the American invasion of Iraq. During Q&A, Mr. Traub discusses the recent resignation of John Bolton, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.

Michael Scharf and Gregory McNeal , Saddam on Trial: Understanding and Debating the Iraqi High Tribunal
Scharf and McNeal discuss the legitimacy of Saddam Hussein's trial and subsequent death sentence. They describe the roles they played in preparing the Iraqi High Tribunal for the first of several planned court cases.
