A Muslim convert who talked about his desire to wage jihad against civilians was charged Friday in a plot to set off hand grenades at a shopping mall during the Christmas rush, authorities said.

1. So he had no grenades and was acting alone.
Another unhinged weirdo is being used to stoke the fires of terra, terra terra.

2. The article doesn't say if he was born in the USand just switched religions
ornot. I'm really sorry to hear about this one. It gives credence to the RW constant war on terror! I believe there arelots of native born terrorists in the US. For what ever their reason is at the time, they'd be willing to destroy people, buildings, and anything that will further their cause. Tim McVeigh comes to mind. I just hate to hear about Muslims and jihadbecause I really do believe there aren't many of the, here at least, but the fewalways make the BIG TIME NEWS.

7. The problem with the RW
war on terror is that they are partially correct. We do need to prepare for another attack.... GW's disruption of the middle east has made the US a lightning rod, even if the efforts are small. Sounds like this man is acting alone, but we still need to be prepared.

That said, we progressives have a much different approach.

"Shareef, of Rockford, was arrested when he met with an undercover agent in a parking lot to trade a set of stereo speakers for four hand grenades and a handgun."

4. It was the goofy locally recruited informant who specifically asked this guy if he WANTED

to use hand grenades and when the target naturally said, "Sure" this bribed local snitch set up the buy.

Go to the Smoking Gun Website to read the formal write-up. The FBI should be ashamed to use bribed and untrained informants. When they discovered this man was potentially violent and wanted to use "a knife" they could have locked him up on that testimony alone. But NO! They played out a long saga of their informant feeding him *terrorist ideas* and taking great pains to set-up this so called grenade buy. Too funny - selling stereo speakers. Give us ''mericans a break! :eyes:

This man was milked to make the Feds look good during the holidays. What a piss poor waste of resources.

IMO their major problem is that they will NOT recruit Muslims into FBI operations. If they had a fully trained and trusted agent on the inside, he would know better to feed information to the potential terrorists. One off-balanced man acting alone is just a maniac who is "wrapped too tight" NOT a terrorist.

If the FBI continues to harass the Muslim Community they may not be able to recruit GOOD agents. That's a true tragedy for I am proud to have a Jordanian American friend who is very intelligent and patriotic. Again, the FBI needs trained Muslim agents on the inside NOT bribed and unskilled informants.

The local police could have arrested this man as potentially dangerous to the community. Instead, the FBI blew the whole situation into something absurd. Most likely worthy of "The Medal of Freedom" in Bush-World. :puke:

5. Of course, this guy gets charged as a terrorist
While all of the right-wing christian nutballs who have been caught trying to blow up government buildings get charged with weapons violations.
