anyone here still think repubs are not human garbage?
i was chided by some last time i went on a tirade and accused anyone that supports or votes repub of being human garbage.

with what we all know about the repub party's desire to continue to cover up the facts behind their illegal war, their rampant pedophilia, and their connections to every corrupt corporation imaginable...is there anyone here who still thinks that repub voters that support them are just human beings with a different opinion?

just curious.

5. They are Americans who have been lead into a
divisive game by this administration... As long as country was split, the people would never have the power to do what they did in November...

Of Course now I don't like talking politics with them, cause then I do get mean, and think they are human garbage.....

thing to do. Of course all people who vote for repubs aren't human garbage, anymore than all Muslims are terrorist scum or all Jews are vermin, or any other disgusting sweeping statement about any group of people.

A giant fuck the type of thinking that produces posts like yours.

What you just said has nothing to do with what I said. Or what your sig line says. I was referring to YOU, not to the republicans. You as in your choice of sig line in light of what your post says is ironic.

I agree with what you said in that post, and I can only assume you were being sarcastic, but it was a non sequitur nonetheless.

longitudinal studies of neo-nates who are attracted to Cheetos show that they invariably grow up to be Repugs.
Should abortion be mandatory or simply strongly encouraged? I asked this question at DU awhile back and had the topic locked. :(

Like the old saw says, opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one, and sometimes they stink. Personally, I find your intolerance just as repugnant, i.e. stinky, as the delusions and stupidity of many republicans, but it doesn't make you or them human garbage.

Of course, that's just my opinion.

24. Yep. I think that such sentiments do great harm to everyone, really.
We need to be able to disagree with another person's views and even dislike them personally, without automatically characterizing them in terms of waste, trash, disease, or filth. Such generalizations inhibit communication, damage our own credibility, and worst of all, may lead us to underestimate their capacity for change.

Garden-variety Republicans are actually quite diverse, they do the awful things they do for a broad spectrum of reasons, and not all of them succumb to the same vices. Most are law-abiding fools, duped by promises of wealth they will never gain, meritocracy for which they could never qualify, or ideals of an esoteric spirituality they could never hope to grasp. They desparately wish to be correct, and they do not travel far down their path before they must begin lie to themselves as much as their leaders already lie to them. They're humans mistaken, not human garbage.

The Republican party leadership is extremely corrupt; not only have they done horrible things, but they have also engineered vicious media-military-industrial machines that fool and rob and kill their loyal followers as readily as they fool, rob, and kill their opposition. They are criminals, liars, murderers, and should be regarded as such. However, they too are not garbage.

Opposition is life's great teacher. Only when we come to understand the human qualities of our enemies can we develop our own virtues past the stages of nascent and obvious. They expose the flaws in one's own character. It is easy to have compassion and esteem and foregiveness for one's friends and allies, that is no harder than a seed extending its first root tendrils into soft soil. To have the same capacity for compassion, esteem, and foregiveness of those who hate us and struggle against us, without pretending them to be anything other than what they are, now that is a challenge worth undertaking.

25. Thanks for the qualification
"repub voters that support them" The Republicans I know are thoroughly turned off by Bush and his hijinks, and are saying that he has betrayed Republican values. I'm all for supporting those kind of Republicans, especially when they add that they voted a straight Democratic ticket in 2006 or that they voted Dem for the first time in their life. The ones that can truly stop Bush aren't the folks at DU-they are the rank and file Republicans who are disgusted with what the neo-cons have done.

28. It's an illness. The cure is the truth.
It's like an addiction. The spinners sent their attractive lies out of the media outlets, and some buy it.

But the truth cures the ill perceptions. For example, when we're all treading water. There is no spin. You tread, or drown. There is no global warming until that day, for some.

Those who buy the spin are often doing it for someone they love. Whether it's a marriage partner, or a parent who passed on the lies.

And it's not always an arrogant smirking jerk. There are nice, friendly repubs. It's like some forms of cancer that are asymptomatic. Everything appears normal, but they're sick.

I used to think it was genetic. Perhaps there is a genetic potential for acquiring the disease.

And then there are the assholes who become repubs out of greed. I know one. They are trash. But I think there are very few of them.

people who do terrible things, behave in awful ways, and deride others based on anything other than that individual person's actual behaviour come in all political flavors, all ages, sexes, sizes, colors, and backgrounds.

I completely disagree with what you say in your post- find the thought itself offensive- and cannot condone or encourage you to continue to think this way- but you are as entitled to hold your 'view' as I am- as anyone is. And human beings are human beings always- not only when 'they' think like 'me' or behave in ways that are what I see as 'good'.

There is no such thing as 'human garbage' except for the refuse that our bodies create, and leave behind.
