Florida GOP congressman says don't let "outsiders" into state demanding new election
in District 13...Jennings vs Buchanan.

How arrogant this guy sounds. Republicans in Florida seem to think we don't belong here at all. They have that way about them.

http://www.palmbeachpost.com/politics/content/state/epaper/2006/12/09/a15a_district_1209.html

TALLAHASSEE — A circuit judge will hold a hearing Dec. 19 to determine whether the voting machine maker in a disputed congressional election will have to let others examine the "source code" computer software for possible glitches.

ES&S, like other voting machine manufacturers, has jealously guarded its computer programs as proprietary information, and argued that the 18,000 "undervote" in Sarasota County was more likely the result of poor ballot design.

..."Rep. Jeff Miller, R-Pensacola, told delegation members it was important that "Florida solve the problem" and not have outsiders come into the state demanding a new election. Miller also said it was "critical that Florida not go into the 110th Congress a member short. We have to bring this to a close quickly."

Really Jeff, what's the big hurry. Maybe it is time for outsiders to come in here.

And Diaz-Balart, another Florida Republican warns Democrats:

Unless the courts order a new election, it will be up to the House of Representatives - under Democratic control - to determine whom to seat. Rep. Lincoln Diaz-Balart, R-Miami, warned Democrats not to "poison the well" by using their majority status to reject the certified winner.

They haven't been so good at reaching across the aisle, have they?
They need to stop with the lectures.

4. They've turned the vote counting over to "outsiders," so
why shouldn't outsiders be allowed to take part in their little investigation?

Of course, they make ES&S (NE) and Diebold (OH and TX) feel right at home. Take off your shoes and stay awhile.

But if somebody from anywhere else in the country happens to have an interest in finding out if these crooks are finally going to have to reveal their maliciously programmed software, which is used in just about every state in the union, no. That's going too far. We can't take it. Carpetbaggers. Go back to where you came from. We can solve our own problems thank you.

Electronic voting is the biggest political con game and scam in the history of the US and maybe the world.

6. LOL! The well was poisoned when Jim Baker and the Beltway Boys
inteferred with the 2000 presidential election.

I say, if the Republicans feel like the Democrats have their teeth on the Republican's jugulars, it's time to clamp down,

8. the certified winner... nope we need to put people in jail who certify the wrong
winners.. Florida seems like a great place to start. this particular election was decided by a commission made up of the governor of florida, mr Bush, and two other Republicans appointed by mr Bush....

9. Mel Martinez issues a warning to Democrats also...
Plenty of warnings coming out lately. Guess they are getting nervous.

http://www.bradenton.com/mld/bradenton/news/local/16200610.htm?source=rss&channel=bradenton_local

The state is running an audit of the county's touch-screen voting machines, and Buchanan's campaign has said there is no proof the machines weren't working.

"In the absence of that, certification ought to be given finality," said Republican Sen. Mel Martinez, who has been tapped to serve as general chairman of the Republican National Committee. "There's always another election."

Buchanan has purchased outgoing Rep. Clay Shaw's Capitol Hill home. The House plans to swear him in on Jan. 4, though it could unseat him later if it chose.

Martinez said he would be surprised if Democrats refuse to seat Buchanan.

Martinez suggested it would "send a message to the American people that they didn't hear the voters' message of bipartisanship."

Wrong on two counts, Mel.

First: Because Buchanan said it doesn't mean it is true.

Second: The voters voted for change, not for bipartisanship. Doesn't matter how much you say it...that is not what they said.

So take your 1% win over Betty Castor, and get back to work for all of us...not just the right wing.

10. So it's now not okay for 'outsiders' to demand a new election
but it was okay for 'outsiders' to decide our elections for us.

14. St Pete Times: "Butt out, Dean; Buchanan won." Odd editorial for them.
I would say Florida papers and congressman are getting overly upset. I am stunned at this editorial from a paper I respected. BTW, Dean's intervew with Bay News 9 to which they referred...was excellent.

Butt out, Dean; Buchanan won
http://journals.democraticunderground.com/madfloridian/765

"It would be a big mistake for House Democrats to heed Dean's advice. No election is perfect, and Americans likely would resent a partisan political effort to interfere in the will of voters, no matter how misguided or inattentive they were in casting their ballots.

Instead of stirring up voter discontent, Jennings should put her energy into planning a political future. Buchanan will have to face the voters again in two years, so it is not in Jennings' best interest to come across as a sore loser if she wants to run again."

Sore loser?? Sore loser?? Not words to win a Democrat's heart.
