What do you want Congress to investigate?
Edited on Sat Dec-09-06 02:52 PM by Marr
Know what I'd like Congress to look into?

The toppled Hussein statue spectacle, and the "throngs" of cheering Iraqis that greeted the US invasion force. I think it's symbolic of the Bush Administration's dishonest, unscrupulous, and insultingly condescending position. And worse- alot of people in this country still think those events were authentic. They're still mentioned by pundits all the time, making the argument that the Iraq occupation could've gone just swimmingly had the Bush Administration not screwed up the details. They point to the cheering crowds and the toppled statue photos and say, "see? We could've won, but we lost that support".

We didn't lose that support- it was never there. It was all just another cynical lie, and I think the people in this country ought to know it.

I want Abu Ghraib investigated.

I want the outing of Valerie Plame Wilson investigated.

I want the Bush Crime Family's ties to the Saudi Royals investigated.

I want Dick Cheney's meetings with energy corporation officials investigated.

That's just for starters.

12. Investigate the Oil and Gas pipeline negotiations between Bush admin - Taliban
The congress should investigate the oil and gas pipeline negotiations that the Bush administration conducted with the Taliban from Jan 2001 until the End of July 2001 and how it led to the 9-11 attacks.

2. Bush lied America into war.
Bush was criminally negligent -- at best -- regarding 9-11.

Bush was criminally negligent -- at best -- regarding Hurricane Katrina.

Bush was criminally negligent -- at best -- regarding ENRON Energy Policy.

There are a heckuva lot more.

4. let's go back in time and move forward:
-cheney energy task force
-cheney (simultaneously) heading the anti-dometic terrorism task force - that didn't meet once before 911
-the timing of moving troops and resources out of Afghanistan and to iraq - around the same time of the fall of Kandahar ; and more than a half year before the IWR vote in congress; and more than a full year before the actual invasion.
-the implications set forth in the Downing Street Memos
-the process by which major legislation - during the conference committee - was full-scale rewritten with provisions by lobbyists inserted that had never been discussed at any hearing or was never vetted... such as in the medicare plan b bill there was a 'tax break for companies that continue to offer health insurance to retirees' (in order to keep costs from further escalating for the govt) - that in the last revision was changed... tax break for companies.... (the provision for using the tax break as an incentive for continuing coverage for retirees disappeared - and a new corporate tax cut ... no strings attached, was added.)

those are just a few starters...

10. I want them to investigate how the Bush family have stayed out of jail all these decades.
Go right back to the 1930s, and unearth the truth about why Prescott Bush and George Walker weren't prosecuted under the Trading With The Enemy Act and why that affair was swept under the rug by the Justice Department and The New York Times.

They'll find that the Bushes were mere lieutenants in the pro-Nazi American Fifth Column, and the kingfish were the Dulles Brothers, who were the principal lawyers and bag men for Germany's biggest steel and petrochemical companies. Nothing was ever done because John Foster Dulles was Chairman of the Republican National Committee, and his brother Allen was already the de facto head of the American branch of the emerging anti-communist covert action community.

In concert with J. Edgar Hoover and private intelligence agencies spun off from Military Intelligence -- aided by an enthusiastic army of smart lawyers with a telent for political dirty-tricks, such as a young Richard Nixon, the Dulles Brothers had blackmailed and Red Baited practically everybody in a position to challenge them, from Democratic Congressmen to film studio heads.

That's why G.H.W. Bush, an obscure ex-one term Congressman -- with no visible intel expertise -- was appointed head of the RNC and then CIA during the Nixon and Ford years.

14. My List
-Faulty Iraq Intelligence: why? how can it be avoided in the future?

-Foreign Aid/Military Contract connection: How much of our foreign aid is military aid, and how much of the latter goes to US defense contractors. (Ideally, an end to military aid)

-9/11 Panel recommendations: not so much investigate, but implement

-Oil companies: collusion over prices

-Microsoft: anti-trust (overdue)

-Credit Card Fees: they are starting to do this

15. Investigating Shrub's 15-minute death warrant hearings could be fun
Dipshit signed 163 death warrants on the basis of 15 minutes' consideration. Some of those people had defense lawyers who slept in the courtroom during their trials. There is NO WAY that all 163 of those people were actually guilty of murder.

But let's start out simply. On August 6, 2001, George W. Bush received a Presidential Daily Briefing entitled "Bin Laden Determined To Strike Within U.S." Why was NO action taken on that report?

On September 11, 2001, the Pentagon conducted a command post exercise in which the scenario was airliners flying into the World Trade Center. The notional enemy in this exercise was "Al Qaeda." According to Defense Department regulations, notional enemies cannot have names that even slightly resemble those of real enemies, for reasons that by now are all too obvious. What's up with this?

The days before 9/11 and the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks are good for investigations from now until the end of time.

Katrina and Bush's inaction on same could be good.

16. Themselves
Congress should take an agressive stance against their relationship to lobbyists, making laws that make them exempt from law and term limits. Power corrupts.
