3. No I haven't but what a GREAT idea!
What would it take for a group like the DNC...er maybe not them, maybe a 527 group, to put together a program to send $1.00 to millions?

Maybe easier than that, what do you think of all of us DUers just writing IMPEACH on every bill we pass? $1.00,$5.00,$10.00 ot $20.00!

I suppose the rities couldresurect that old law of defacing our currency, but hell, I'd take the chance!

What do you think????

4. I would not personally do this . . .
. . . but I'd suggest making it "Impeach Bush" rather than just Impeach since these bills might be around past 08.

You can order custom stamps. I wonder if they would take the order.

The guidelines from stamps.com don't say you can't put "Impeach" on it. You can't put *'s picture on it but looks like you can use the word. Maybe the folks at Impeachbush.org would be interested in it as a fund-raiser.

19. No, the postal service does not allow political stamps
However I can create post cards with just about anything you want on them and you can mail them.

Tell me what you want in a private message on DU and I'll make up post cards for those who want them. Then you can look for them at http://www.zazzle.com/maximus7

8. And don't let the fact that defacing US currency is a federal offense stop you.
After all, making a statement as important as that is worth some time behind bars. Right?

11. It is a federal offense
now lets be realistic 'bout it

Will the Feds go AFTER YOU for doing it?

I sure hope not...

But you think they would not go after the DNC, or any other large identifiable body?

Of course we have been defacing Pennies for ever and a day at tourist atractions... but there is a reason why a party cannot do it

14. OK. I was wrong.
United States Code
TITLE 18 - CRIMES AND CRIMINAL PROCEDURE
PART I - CRIMES
CHAPTER 17 - COINS AND CURRENCY
§ 333. Mutilation of national bank obligations

“Whoever mutilates, cuts, defaces, disfigures, or perforates, or
unites or cements together, or does any other thing to any bank bill,
draft, note, or other evidence of debt issued by any national banking
association, or Federal Reserve bank, or the Federal Reserve System,
with intent to render such bank bill, draft, note, or other evidence
of debt unfit to be reissued,
shall be fined under this title or
imprisoned not more than six months, or both.”

Apparently as long as whatever is done does not "render...unfit to be reissued...".

Still, it does not cast us in a very good light.

26. Does not "cast us in a very good light" hahahahahahahahahaha
I see you have backed off on your previous statement "After all, making a statement as important as that is worth some time behind bars. Right?". Are you serious that fearing prison time is good enough reason to not put this stamp on a bill? Are you serious that putting this stamp on a bill casts "us" in a not very good light? I think you fear too much, or else you are joshing us.

20. It's only a federal offense if you render it unusable
Or cover any of the serial numbers. That's how Where's George can still function.

I write something on the receipt that goes to the merchant.

I had been putting "Vote Democratic -your country depends on you" or such, but I will start putting "Impeach Bush"

Usually pay by debit/credit when we eat out. Always tip well so the waitperson is receptive to the message (and because it is the correct thing to do.)

I have mentioned it on DU several times, and you are the first to comment on the idea. Thanks :hi:

I usually end conversations, where it seems fitting, with "visualize IMPEACHMENT!" I have YET to get a bad reaction, and I've been doing that for almost two years now. Phone calls? You bet. Even when I order something or call 411 for information. Plant those seeds EVERYWHERE you think they might grow.

There was a movement, promoted here by a few DUers, very early-on (I think it was the late, great nostamj who initiated it), to write "? W" on dollar bills and everywhere else. "Question dubya." There are quite a few of those floating around by now. I'm glad "IMPEACH" ones are, too, but I'd be sure to add a "w" or "bush" or "dubya" so that the appeal is VERY direct and VERY focused.
