I am convinced the cream will rise to the top...
With all the talk about who might win the 2008 nomination, I believe that a leader will emerge. He/She will connect with the people in such a way as to define a path for our nation to follow in these troubled times. Will it be Gore, Clinton, Vilsack, Obama, Edwards, or someone that has not yet arrived? Just as Howard Dean's message connected the last time, I am convinced another will emerge. Poll numbers or money will have little to do with who the nominee will be. It will be the message.

2. by the time 2008 rolls around, the environmental picture will be so dire . . .
that people of all political stripes will be demanding Al Gore . . .

news on the environment gets worse every day, and a year from now it will be THE hot issue -- along with getting out of Iraq (if we haven't already) . . . and people will want someone who's knowledgable and who will actually DO something about it . . .

the nomination -- and very likely the election -- will be Gore's for the asking . . .

7. I agree with you.
Now that the ISG group *plan* is out, we'll see exactly who is ready to get our kids out, and who is going to once again *sit back* until it's *politically expedient* to put their money where their mouth is.

9. I disagree. In the vast majority of cases, money talks.
Of course, there is a relationship. Money will flow to those with poll numbers, etc.

And I'm talking deep pockets. Not the kind that appears on campaign finance records, but the kind that owns the means of news and media production.

We have to change the system, and the best and most direct way to do that is to ban political advertising on TV in the same way we ban ads for cigarettes (so PLEASE don't tell me about "free speech").

No TV - no need for big bucks - it's just that simple.
