Rove is totally working the Cindy issue, via the media!! What a snake!
Look at the wording on this MSNBC poll:
(linky, in case you want to vote: http://msnbc.msn.com/id/11121444/
"Do you agree with the decision by Capitol Police to remove activist Cindy Sheehan from the gallery at the president's State of the Union speech because she was wearing a T-shirt with an antiwar slogan?

Rove! That slimy snake!

They're all ready framing the Cindy issue as a free speech issue: Did Cindy have the right to exercise her free speech rights---and sport an anti-war t-shirt at the SOTU?

Excuse me!!!!!!!! The t-shirt was not visible. No one in the gallery could see that she had an anti-war t-shirt on. Those words were not visible. According to the photos taken, as she was walking in--that t-shirt was covered up!!!

This is not a "free speech" issue!!!

The issue is fascism!!! Do the BushCo thugs have the right to arrest an innocent citizen who did nothing wrong? Can BushCo arrest an innocent person just because they don't like their views?

THOSE ARE THE REAL ISSUES, DAMMIT!!!

These bastards do this EVERY DAMN TIME!!! They re-frame the argument, and the media echos the straw man---until the true issue is buried underneath a mountain of lies and misrepresentation.

I hate this!!!!!!!!!

It's so sick that Rove and his propaganda techniques are followed to the letter! The media is repeating his talking points and even their polls have the issue boxed into the argument they want made!

1. That's why Democrats need to learn how to frame their arguments
"Meek and mild" just doesn't work anymore.

10. democrats
don't have the forum for sending their arguments to the mainstream. Even when they DO a good job of it, no one notices, because the news is turning a blind eye to our country.

3. I hope they press charges...
...so Cindy has her day in court to stand up for her right to free speech out of a "free speech zone".

When it happens here in Pittsburgh, judges throw the cases out, ruling that the first amendment rights of the arrested have been violated.

I betcha they will not press charges so Cindy does not (yet) have the opportunity to test the Chimperial "First Amendment Zones" Americans have been subjected to.

6. Arrested by fashion police.
Not wearing Stepford Wife attire.

She was taken out of there because Bush didn't want to look at her. He doesn't have to give a reason. He is the President. T-Shirt was just the excuse not the reason. It can't hold up in court, can it?

7. Of course she has the right to wear that.
It is a first amendment issue. She should have the standing to sue and I hope she does. * is ignoring our first amendment rights too. Just like he did with our 4th amendment rights. He has no respect for our constitution. We need to impeach the bastard.

11. In Cindy's words...
My ticket was in the 5th gallery, front row, fourth seat in. The person who in a few minutes was to arrest me, helped me to my seat.

I had just sat down and I was warm from climbing 3 flights of stairs back up from the bathroom so I unzipped my jacket. I turned to the right to take my left arm out, when the same officer saw my shirt and yelled; "Protester." He then ran over to me, hauled me out of my seat and roughly (with my hands behind my back) shoved me up the stairs. I said something like "I'm going, do you have to be so rough?" By the way, his name is Mike Weight.

The officer ran with me to the elevators yelling at everyone to move out of the way. When we got to the elevators, he cuffed me and took me outside to await a squad car. On the way out, someone behind me said, "That's Cindy Sheehan." At which point the officer who arrested me said: "Take these steps slowly." I said, "You didn't care about being careful when you were dragging me up the other steps." He said, "That's because you were protesting."  Wow, I get hauled out of the People's House because I was, "Protesting."

I was never told that I couldn't wear that shirt into the Congress. I was never asked to take it off or zip my jacket back up. If I had been asked to do any of those things...I would have, and written about the suppression of my freedom of speech later. I was immediately, and roughly (I have the bruises and muscle spasms to prove it) hauled off and arrested for "unlawful conduct."

12. Maybe this just might be about that Specter provision to the new
Edited on Wed Feb-01-06 04:40 AM by GrannyK
improved "Patriot Act" to have protestors arrested for felony charges if they protest within "the secure zone".

(This is Citrene posting under GrannyK. GrannyK (the matriarch of the Crawford Peace House, had a bad accident this pm (broken arm, very close to the shoulder)).

There is more here than may meet the I (eye). Attention all, what may we be arrested for in the future? Violating the "security perimeter" and being charged with a felony. Cindy's t-shirt did it.

This belongs to Arlen Specter. This belongs to us. The next time Code Pink rents a room in the hotel that Bush is speaking in (or anyone else) and unfurls a banner, instant arrest and felony conviction for violation of the new, improved PATRIOT ACT!

NO MORE TEA PARTIES!

15. This is SO outrageous on so many levels. And the way the media
spun it As the news was Breaking: ABC (online): said that Cindy was escorted out of the SOTU for 'some political action';
CNN (I believe Wolf Blitzer) announced that Cindy was arrested for 'Unfurling a Banner in the Capitol, which is against the Capitol's rules.'; On Larry King, California Congresswoman, Jane Harman, repeated (in a dismissive tone, I might add) that Cindy Sheehan had been arrested for unfurling a banner at the SOTU address.

CNN should be made to officially apologize for putting out that MISINFORMATION (same folks that brought you 'the miners are alive....uh.....nope....they're dead). Because THIS misinformation is SUCH blatant ROVIAN progaganda -- aimed to SQUASH the public's outrage if they knew the truth that it was a Fucking t-shirt -- Timing is Everything....but I see she will have her day in court.

Also: The Fucking Hypocrisy of Bush opening up Honoring the Memory of Coretta Scott King -- right after Cindy had been goose-stepped out of the hall.
