2. I don't give Reagan ANY quarter
His record as governor of California was just as whitewashed by the media as was his record as president.

Reagan's environmental motto was "You've seen one tree, you've seen them all." And "Trees are the number one cause of air pollution." Livermore was the impetus behind these sentiments. It paved (no pun intended) the way for James Watt.

5. This statement alone.....
Edited on Sun Dec-10-06 04:17 PM by jus_the_facts
Environmentalists feared Reagan's tenure when he was elected governor in 1966. Asked during the campaign about preserving California's natural resources, including its spectacular redwoods, he had said, "A tree is a tree — how many more do you need to look at?"

....the man shouldn't have been in control of a boy scout troupe much less a president. :nopity:

7. Let's celebrate people's deaths
because they had different politics than us. We have to be very careful of not becoming like the Right, even though their policies provoke us. Even if they cause deaths. To be jubliant in the face of another's death means that we have truly lost our moral compass. We have denied another person of his or her humanity. And it means the hatred of the Right has taken root in us.

Please don't say that with these deaths, it prevents other people from dying from their incompetent, violent policies. These people were old; at that point, their impact is nil.

8. Who's celebrating?
It was a statement of objective fact - three right-wingers died within days of each other. Calling it a 'trifecta' is a convenient shorthand for observing this coincidence. It's hardly an emotionally loaded word.

It seems YOU read way too much meaning into my post - which says more about your deepest insecurities and fears about who YOU are, than it does me.

I am pretty sure there was no glee or celebration in my post.

I am sure it feels REALLY GOOD to put others in their place from way up on a high horse (speaking of the dangers of becoming like a right-winger), but at least get your reading comprehension skills in order before you do, because frankly, I am almost embarrassed for you.
