2. Pure Genius
The first cartoon is one of the very best political cartoons ever - it sums up the sociopathy of the Bushes - and many other politicians.

6. Funny toon. The only thing that would have made Poppy's crying jag
funnier would have been if he threw up on Jeb at the end.

Some images just never leave your memory.

21. I did miss it and I kept searching on YouTube for Bush and Cry or...
...something else that kept bringing up nothing. Thanks. Talk about detached from reality...I wonder if Junior will bead Dad to full-blown dementia. It's going to be a close race...

12. Sorry, Tasteless
I usually enjoy political cartoons; they can often make a point more powerfully than words ever could. In the first cartoon, mocking Bush I's expression of caring for his son is.....just harsh. I wouldn't want anyone to mock me for doing the same thing. It exposed him as being somewhat human, to me. And if you do mock that, it deters it from happening; not that everyone should cry at such moments, but it reinforces the old notion that men should not show emotion. As far as Jeb's losing the election, to you or I, it seems trivial; but we don't know what happened behind the scenes or in the aftermath that might have been poignant. I know after a failure of a company I was involved in, I fell into a depression. Its easy for people to say- "Well, what's the big deal? You can start another one." or "You tried to make it rich and failed- poor you". But the fallout from that experience was very real, but I can see how some people wouldn't sympathize with it.

14. Sorry, I don't believe he was "crying" for Jeb.
The whole display revealed something darker and bigger going on in the man's head than a lost election in '94. Your personal depression and the poignant events surrounding it are real. Your policies also aren't responsible for causing thousands of deaths.

16. GHWB doesn't give a shit about W or Jeb or any Americans, he was
just emotionally overloaded because he finally realized what should have run down Bab's leg ended up fucking the U.S.A. and much of the world. He's very afraid, for good reason, for his own soul.

18. "Tasteless" is someone who glady profiteers from war while shedding tears ...
... that his evil spawn didn't get yet another entitlement - for a whole 4 years. This same war profiteer is married to an old crone who paraded through a Katrina refugee shelter and proclaimed how "good they had it," apparently compared to what she thought they deserved. The time to shed tears would be then. Where are the tears for those people? Where are the tears for 700,000 Iraqis?

Sorry ... those were the tears of someone whose entire life has been filled with immediate gratification. These people think 'hardship' is a throne with one too few cushions. Fuck 'em.

19. Let's not let their hate become our hate
I don't disagree with anything you wrote or the facts. But we're responsible for our own actions and behavior. If we treat them with the same disgust they show others and deny their humanity as they do to the poor, we are sinking to their level. I think we should beat the living daylights out of the GOP at the polls, absolutely. And we should be aggressive about that. But when you have hatred in your heart, for someone, that you would laugh at their death or misery, then that hatred has truly become contagious.

20. When their actions are deserving of disgust, display disgust.
Watch the video. This man is not crying for his son. He's crying over a loss of power. He chokes on the word "defeat". I'm a sensitive guy, but watching that false and frankly foul display made my stomach roil.

22. Death or Misery?
What death or misery have any of the *'s endured? Have any of their loved ones died in either Gulf war? Did any of them march or protest against the war? Where was their outrage when old man Barb said that the poor of NOLA were "better off" in their putrid living conditions? Even MLK called out the murderers and racists of his day. He didn't say "well, give their behavior a pass cause we don't want to be like them". He pointed out the wrong they had done. How is that being mean or like them? That's like saying Slavery would have gone away if we just didn't point out the horrors of Slavery. Or the Holocaust wouldn't be a problem if we just didn't point out the horror it was. Or the genocide against Native Americans was fine because we don't want to offend the status quo. Where does it end? Pacifism does not equal silence. Pointing out the phony remorse of perpetrators doesn't make us like them. It shines a light on their activities. How many dead (an estimated 12 million Africans in that Holocaust) does it take before enough is enough?

23. My 'hatred' is for the behavior ... for the corruption of privilege.
I have more disgust for this behavior than I have if it were the tantrum of a spoiled shild in his "terrible twos" who was denied a third ride on the pony.

It's agonized hyperbole in the extreme to liken Poppy's perverted sentimentality to "death or misery." The cartoon hits the nail on the head - it was a "let them eat cake" moment.
