Presidential 2008 Campaign Prediction: Obama backs Gore
Runs as V.P. with Gore as Pres, Wesley Clark as Sec. Defense, Bill Richardson as Sec. of State, Patrick Fitzgerald as Attorney General.

There you have it people. Let's make it a reality.

3. My friends, Al Gore will shock you
I've become something of an Al-o-phile of late and the guy is not what we think. He's far better. And I am now convinced that he's ready to sweep to the Presidency.

Roger Simon's book on the 2000 campaign and Richard Clarke's Against All enemies have some revealing passages about old Al.

12. Al has a chance as long as he stays away from Donna Brazile
I'm convinced she cost him 2000, not Al himself...

13. But he didn't technically lose in 00....
and I think Gore is quite done with Brazille and the rest of the Beltway Dem Club.

15. Technically he didn't...
But whatever words you want to use, he wasn't sworn in in January - and Ms Brazille was behind that decision.

14. Al has proven he can win (despite the sour taste with voters over Clinton)
and considering what disasteers we face, his knowledge and experience make him the man for the time!

BTW would love to see Obama as VP choice. He is great but needs more experience.

30. Yet another drive-by Gore insult...
You just don't quit, do you? Nor do you answer when someone asks you a simple question, such as why you feel this way, with examples to illustrate your position.

All you're interested in is breezing thru with a disparaging remark.

33. Are you going to spam every candidate thread, bowens43? You have already said you think they are all
"unelectable". And you post this, again and again, and then you never respond to anyone.

8. Gore has proven himself
Edited on Mon Dec-11-06 12:26 PM by demo_not_full
Yes he has proven that he's even more worhthy to be President since back in 2000 when he was elected President.

But this country is in one huge mess right now. Who do we know that can go in there and make many wrongs into rights in the shortest amount of time? I still think Bill Clinton needs to be directly involved in this effort by being on the inside.

There's alot of talk about the war but there's also ALOT of neglect in this country since 2000. Two people can work their butts off at a 9 to 5 job and still struggle. Why? Because half the money goes on gasoline and right now even more goes on the sky high heating costs. There's hardly enough left for food. We both make more than $10 hour but it still isn't enough. When Bill was in office, people like us had it made and I saw groups of poor people coming out of poverty. Now the middle class IS poverty.

17. I wonder if Patrick Fitzgerald would want the job
He's shown an aversion to politics so far, it seems.

I like your picks. Gore has the ideological grasp to handle a cabinet of strong minds and strong performers, and still keep a consistent focus on his goals. And he has the strength and stature to control them, rather than being controlled. Most other candidates wouldn't be strong enough to handle Wesley Clark as Defense Sec, or Bill Richardson as State. LBJ had a strong cabinet, and they pushed him around too easily.

Obama as VP balances the ticket nicely. He's northern, and a bit conservative. He lacks the experience, IMO, to be a great president yet (He's still fumbling around now, trying to strike the proper balance between liberal and moderate).

Not the only possible ticket, but a very good one.

Just wondering if he'd lower his standards enough to take a political position.

28. It is not supposed to be a political position.

Nobody expects the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, appointed by the president to run the US military, to push a political agenda. In fact, we expect the JCS to be apolitical and any suggestion otherwise would be rightly seen as horrifying.

For some reason we now DO expect the AG, appointed by the president to run the US law enforcement, to push an agenda. And that is nearly as horrifying.

26. He technically has equivalent power to AG now
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrick_Fitzgerald#Plame_investigation

On December 30, 2003, Fitzgerald was appointed Special Counsel (under Department of Justice regulation 28 CFR Part 600) in the Plame investigation. Through this, Fitzgerald was delegated "all the authority of the Attorney General" in the matter. In February 2004, Acting Attorney General Comey clarified the delegated authority and stated that Fitzgerald has plenary authority. Comey also wrote "further, my conferral on you of the title of 'Special Counsel' in this matter should not be misunderstood to suggest that your position and authorities are defined and limited by 28 CFR Part 600."

36. No worries.
Have him as Secretary of State for the first two years and then shift him over to defense and Richardson can take over after his current term as governor. Problem solved. Hey, this politicks thang is easy! :hi:
