SO WHAT!!

Saw much gnashing of teeth and ripping of clothes about how Rahm Emanuel may have known about the rumor of Foley hitting on underage male pages. Although I expect that sort of thing from the right, I'm surprised to see it here on DU.

So What? Rahm Emanuel may have heard rumors of Foley's proclivity to try to spank the monkey with underage boys, but what was he supposed to do? If he runs to the press without proof, he's on a witch hunt. If he goes to the Repukes, they launch a cover-up to insure the scandal doesn't see the light of day. Perhaps the Repukes would even intimidate the Pages into silence.

I'm sorry, but it is not the Democrats job to ensure Repukes aren't indulging in pedophilic fantasies with male pages. It's not the Democrats job to police the Republican Party.

Blaming Rahm Emanuel for this, is like blaming a woman for getting raped because she was wearing a short skirt!

Those on the right will try to turn this into a Democratic scandal. Hell, even if none of the story about Rahm Emanuel is true...the right will try to turn this into a Democratic scandal!!. That's what they do! It's their very nature to try to find cover by deflecting blame, or coming up with any kind of lame-ass excuse to BLAME THE DEMOCRATS.

We know, and I know what the likes of Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity do on a day to day basis. We know what their talking points will be, and we know they have perfected the art of "truthiness".

Let Rush and Hannity and the rest on the right spew their venom. We on DU should not become enablers.

So Rahm Emanuel may have known of the rumors surrounding Rep Foley. SO "BLANKING" WHAT?
