Obama mania hits NH
Politics-mad New Hampshire, jaded beyond reason by never-ending presidential campaigns, hasn't seen anything quite like this before. U.S. Senator Barack Obama D-Ill., made his debut in the kickoff primary state to adoring responses Sunday from large crowds of voters seemingly convinced they were witnessing the next big thing on the national scene. "I see him as very messianic," said Kelsey Woodward, a 64-year-old artist, at Obama's first stop, in Portsmouth. "People are craving a fresh voice, a fresh face, a fresh outlook."

Obama also addressed a standing room crowd of 1500, "we've never had a standing crowd of 1500 people," party spokeswoman Kathleen Strand said.

Evan Bayh was also in Manchester where he addressed about 75 activits that turned out to greet him at a banquent hall.
