worn thin subject
I only speak for myself but what is the huge interest about who will be president in 2008 ?

Right now I could care less , it is all jumping the gun speculation to me . Don;t we have enough to deal with right now rather than putting so much effort into the big win ?

1. You are absolutely correct. I'm sick of it already. I'm listening
to Randi right now and the discussion of course, is Obama. Discussion has reached the point of how dangerous it would be for him to run (would he be shot??). Enough already.

2. #1. I don't care about 2008

#2. I do not like having my candidates "crowned" by the media.

Every time one of the 24/7 stations so much as mentions 2008.. off it goes!
One week in real time is like 6 months of political time, so any talk of '08 is pointless time-filling distraction.... of no more use than the latest showy murder/suicide, missing blond or latest xmas "must-have".

3. Media interests in keeping the world in campaign mode.
People are falling for the media trumpetting the partisan battles. I could give a damn who is running and not running right now. What we *do* know is that one year from now we'll all be shaking our heads about how silly we were.

Lots of stuff is going to happen between now and then. 2007 is going to have a profound impact on 2008 presidential politics.

I mostly ignore this stuff, too. But I sure would like Al Gore to jump in when the time comes.

5. I makes me feel like the nov elections
Mean almost nothing when they just happened . I can't even say I have much faith in the results of the nov elections or that there is time to even fix a small part of what is already destroyed in this country let alone the middle east .

If we don't focus on now and fixing some of this mess 2008 will mean nothing for many people who can't even find a damn job or those who have lost everything .

6. On a political board such as this, all political topics are discussed ad infinitum.
Now on my gardening board, yes, it would be annoying.

Its human nature I guess. I wouldn't start one of those posts but I guess its human nature to share one's own important and ground-breaking opinion on such a subject if you see it pop up ;).
I know I can't resist the pull to share my own "brilliant" thoughts on the subject even while I am chiding myself for responding to yet another one of those :-/....

9. So much can happen before then, and we have some major crises
to deal with in the meantime in case no one has noticed.

10. before '06 it was "can't you wait until after this election" now it's "can't you
wait until later"? the fact is that it is being discussed and candidates are forming committees and there is speculation. If you don't like '08 threads just ignore them.
