Climate Change: Windstorm in France 148 km/h kills 1, injures 2
PARIS - Strong winds of up to 148 kph battered France on Friday, cutting power to some 300,000 homes, bringing down trees around the country and killing a man in the capital, French authorities said.

The 50-year-old died when an advertising board blew over and fell on top of him in central Paris. Two other people were injured in the incident.

The Paris authorities ordered all parks, gardens and cemeteries to be closed until the end of the storm.

...

It said the strongest winds were expected in the south and southwest before the depression which caused the winds left France around the region of Calais in the north.

2. Over here in the UK
it just seems to be a cycle of windy, wet and warm. Anything is better than last year when it seemed to be never ending cold just hovering around zero for about 3 months. Only 10 days now to the longest day - whoopee !

3. Was that during the time the Gulf Stream stopped?
It only stopped for 2 wks, but I could imagine it producing months of knock-on freezing.
