Tom delay has a webblog
om Delay has started his web blog. Here's one of his first articles.

A Call to Action
It is a regrettable fact of the current American political age that too many Republicans have failed to continue an aggressive fight for the principles which bring us together as Republicans and as conservatives. The election of 2006 was an example of what happens to a party and a movement when we fail to fight for the principles that brought us together in the first place. In short, it is time for true conservatives and Republicans to go back on offense.

We are blessed to live in a land of great opportunity in a time of great challenges. With that blessing, however, comes great responsibility. Our world is a dangerous one where powerful madmen and committed terrorists seek the destruction of our society and think nothing of brutally beheading or bombing our countrymen. Thomas Jefferson told us that, “The price of liberty is eternal vigilance”. Those words ring more true than ever today.

Conservatives must act on First Principles. We must organize and act to protect the very principles of: order, justice and freedom that are the touchstones of our founding documents. We must act to speed the return of our government to its constitutional roots and we must organize to protect our freedoms from those who wish to deny them to us.

Our liberal opponents would have Americans believe that they are becoming more conservative; that they are moderating their radical agenda so that they can claim to be the final arbiters of “mainstream” political thought. In truth, they are only paying the lip service to some of our words so they can take and hold political power. The proverbial leopard cannot change his spots and liberals cannot forsake their radicalized ultra-liberal base.

So, while they are busy trying to reinvent themselves, let us reaffirm who we are.

We are conservatives. We believe that our government is limited and our freedoms are guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States. We believe in a society built on three First Principles: Order, Justice and Freedom. These principles are the three legs of the stool upon which our society rests. With anyone of these legs removed the stool, and our society, topples. We recognize the right and the responsibility of every citizen to engage in the political processes of our republic and we commit ourselves to protect the principles we hold dear.

So, as we go forward to advance our cause and reclaim our majority, conservatives must remember that our society, our government, and our policies must align in a way that promotes and protects our freedoms, our principles and our republic.

We recognize, however that our principles and our ideas will not prevail unless we take action. We have a responsibility to our God, our families, our Nation and ourselves to take action to protect our freedoms and those of our fellow human beings. Its fine for all of us to enjoy the blessings of liberty but we all must share the responsibility to cherish and protect those blessings too.

The time has come for us to unite and take action to protect our freedoms and to extend them to others in need. The time has come to help enlist our fellow citizens in a struggle against foreign despots who seek our destruction and those in this country who would weaken America from within. The time has come for a call to action for all conservatives to rededicate ourselves to our principles, to taking direct, grassroots, political action and work together to reclaim America.

This weblog is one small way for us help create the conditions for positive action. We will foster discussion and debate, by boldly putting forth conservative belief and principle. We all must recognize, however, that while we create an environment for thoughtful conservative dialogue, there is an even deeper need for bold conservative action as we struggle to return our government to its First Principles. It is my hope that TomDelay.com can provide us with some of the fuel we will need to sustain our real world movement. Toward that end we have established a grassroots action and information network (GAIN) that will seek members in every congressional district across the country to which we will take grassroots action to advance our cause.

Please join this effort with me today.
