CNN/USA Today/Gallup: 75% Give Bush Thumbs Up

An instant poll taken by CNN/USA Today/Gallup gave President Bush a 75% positive rating. CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer said more than 400 adults who watched the State of the Union address were surveyed in the poll.

When asked to rate the president’s speech, the poll broke down like this:

48% gave Bush a very positive rating
27% gave Bush a somewhat positive rating
23% gave Bush a negative rating

Although those numbers may not look remarkable on first glance, that’s actually a 75% positive rating for Bush when the top two categories are combined.

5. Did they fail to mention that Wolf said that the majority of those that
were watching and were polled were republican? Wolf qualified that when he reported that poll several times. People that watched the speech and most people that watched the speech were republican.

Then, he went further to show how blivet's** poll numbers had dropped after every speech, starting in the 80's in 2000 to the lows now of 48%. There is nothing to crow about with those numbers.

He actually mentioned that fact several times. He was pretty fair about it (unusual).

7. A 'somewhat positive rating' could as easily mean they didn't fall asleep.

And from the mostly Repug audience, that's actually pretty bad.

8. Mostly Republicans watched the speech.
Almost every Democrat I talked to today said they would not watch, COULD not watch it.

11. Somewhat positive also can mean somewhat NEGATIVE too
which means, if you take the two BOTTOM categories together, it seems that Bush has a 50% NEGATIVE rating for the SOTU.

13. Wolfie ... Now compare your poll with other "major" polls.

See the glaring difference?

Obviously you took your poll from an audience of Haliburton employees.

18. To be fair, I heard Voofie say that this poll was "very partisan"
because only people that like * were watching. He and Candy Crowley (barf) said that these numbers were actually not very good since they were mostly repubs that were surveyed.

21. I'm doubly glad he said that
One because it was the fair and accurate thing to say (on CNN! Who knew!), and two because that qualifier absolutely and blatantly invalidates the number they just said.

It's not often I feel like saying this, but good for Wolf and Candy. It really is encouraging that they took the air out of that poll right away.

affiliated with Regnery Press, of Swift Boat fame. I would double-check anything that this group says.
