Policing Baghdad: THE IMPOSSIBLE TASK
Here are some numbers that ought to make you think:

NY City has a population of 8.2 million.
NYPD has 40,000 Police with about 1000 support staff
NY City is a relatively peaceful city with no insurgency

Baghdad has a population of 7 million
There are 130,000 U.S. Troops IN ALL OF IRAQ.
Baghdad has a very high level of violence due to the insurgency and sectarian violence.

If NYC was seeing the sort of violence that is being seen in Baghdad, how many police and/or national guard troops would be deployed?

Does anyone really believe we have enough troops to keep the peace in Baghdad?
