Did I just hallucinate that Bush twice said "direct our children in love"?

I still can't get over that. What an awkward way to say "Parents, keep your children from finding out they may be gay, or you are failures." And if he didn't mean that (unlikely), then it has to qualify for the most inane thing ever said in a SOTU.

not quite so bad. A side effect of Bush's poor public speaking style, I think - he often says "an'" rather than "and", and his emphasis is very strange.

4. "Special attention"

Like the kind Babs gave him?

Or the kind he gave those directionless twins of his?

Or maybe he means "special attention" as in the wilderness camps his pals run - the ones Yuppie parents send their bratty kids to for $60,000 a summer?

Or perhaps he means all of the black children incarcerated by his prison pals, and by "special attention" he means torture and abuse?

That man wouldn't know true love for anything if it walked up and called him by name. He lives, sleeps, eats and breathes hatred. His whole life is nothing but a hate-fest.

And he's going to lecture us about "Love?" Ask the people of New Orleans about his "special attention" plan for their kids.
