Just watched Chaffee on TDS |
|
It is my opinion this is a good man, with a good heart. I wish more, no, ALL repukes could follow his lead. He's a good man, and if he ever decided to switch parties, I'd say he could do us a lot of good.

1. I wish we could trade him for Ben Nelson. |
|
I like him, too. I can't help it. He's authentic and has a mind of his own and seems like a very good human being. You have to love that he didn't vote for smirko.

6. Yeah there are a couple of Dems I would so trade in for Chafee |
|
And Ben Nelson is definitely one. Mary Landrieu is another one...

7. I would agree, but for one thing. |
|
Nelson was re-elected. Chafee wasn't.

3. Agree. Just wish he'd have switched before the last election. |
|
He'd almost certainly be starting a new 6-year term next month. Chafee's much closer to being a Democrat at heart, but apparently decided to retain the infamous "R" out of family loylaty. I'm sure his late father would not have objected to his son running as a Democrat, given the hard right turn the party has taken.

8. What about Sheldon Whitehouse? |
|
What's Whitehouse like? Is he more centrist or more progressive?

Sounds like it was quite a lonely lunch crowd, too.

9. He's been more on the fence recently. |
|
His tired of all the BS and he's seen more of it than you or me.

10. I remember on election night during his concession speech, he |
|
came across almost jubilant as though he was trying to say, "I totally deserved to lose because I'm a Republican and I should have known better."
He does indeed seem like a good man . . . especially for someone with an (R) in front of his name.

13. He's one of the best with a (R) by his name for sure... |
|
I loved the ending when he was still thinking of something good done by Congress in the last 5 years as they went to commercial. :)

11. He does come off as a very decent guy. |
|
The whole lunch table thing is kind of sad, if you put yourself in his shoes. He's the last of the genuine moderate Republicans, and I hope he remembered to turn out the lights when he left, because there won't be another like him for awhile.

he's a good guy.
Believe it or not, there was a time in the not-so-recent past when "Republican" did not equal "Conservative" and "Democrat" did not equal "Liberal" (or at least there wasn't such an expectation).
