Do you think Bush's "consulting" with others on Iraq is just a puff of smoke? |
|
I don't trust that guy. What I expect him to do is to put up a show with smoke and mirrors while saying "see how I've changed," while at the very same time doing just the same as always. Just a little political cover for the same old sheet.
What do you think is behind Bush's little Iraq dog and pony show? Do you think he's getting any pressure at all on the issue? Or is everyone just waiting for the decider to decide?

1. Not so much a "puff of smoke" as a "cynical joke." blivet has NO intention... |
|
...of doing anything but whateverthehell he wants to do in regards to Iraq policy, no matter how much end product he tosses around.

2. The Inside Story here he will not use the Iraq Study |
|
He will go with DOD who calls for more troops in Feb till Dec of next year. They claim with 20,000 more troops the can change things on the ground. Look for Gates to get rid of Marine General Pace

7. He gave "experts" ONE HOUR to talk about everything on their minds |
|
If that isn't indicative of his lack of real desire to make a change, I don't know what is.

8. Yes Bush will do as Bush likes. Killing seems to be high on his |
|
likes. I do not see any one in the streets mad about it either. The love of force is, as always, with us. Bush looks at being President as sort of a job like a old time King and not what the 'founders' wanted.

9. He will continue inexorably on |
|
the exact same path, with perhaps a token and totally insincere nod in the direction of the ISG Panel and any other critics. He will not stop until either impeached/convicted, or he somehow rides out the next 2 years, or he cracks and has a total freakout/tantrum/meltdown on live TV.

my impression of how he takes "advice" is like a 100 yard dash event.
Rice, Cheney and others get some news and they dash into the oval "orafice" - whoever gets there first to give 'advice' is the winner.
The ISG report was designed to give bush cover for an exit without looking like he's making a mad dash for the door. However, bush is opting to not to implement any 'recommendations' which do not fit his smiley-face picture of Iraq.
he wants a big ticker-tape parade, with confetti and declare victory in front of cheering crowds.

11. I think there will be no change |

They declared months ago that all that's wrong in the war is a "PR problem".
I expect Buxh and company to throw an Earl Scheib paintjob on the same old war and try to sell it as a new model.
As proof, watch Fox News and hear the testimony as to "how well the war is going". I heard Hannity and Ollie North tonite bring out the old "the media doesn't tell the real story" line. (the schools are open again). They swear that every soldier there is afraid "we'll leave before the job is done".
Just give the word wizards of the White House a few days to find suggestions in the Iraq report that are similar to what they're already doing, then we'll hear how well we've "adapted to the situation on the ground" and we've turned a(nother) corner.
...as we lose 3 soldiers a day.

12. It's PR. Remember when he invited Madeline to the White House? |

Same difference. Worth nothing.
