Lesbian family blog in the right wing crosshairs - please help by voting!

Those familiar with the blogosphere might know that voting is currently underway for the 2006 Weblog Awards, hosted by Wizbang!, a fairly right wing online media network (see for yourself at http://wizbangblog.com/). It's "the world's largest blog competition, with over a million votes cast in the last three years for over a thousand blogs."


In the "Best New Blog" category, ten finalists were chosen from a field of 357. And though five of the ten new blogs nominated for the "Best New Blog" category were unabashed right wing rant-fests (surprise!), one of the two front runners in the competition is LesbianDad, a blog written by a Bay Area (Buddhist/ left-wing) lesbian parent.


Hang Right Politics, the other front runner, is expressly motivated to (a) beat the lefties, and (b) beat the lesbian lefties. And not without a little homophobia:

One choice comment: "They are using this site to push the gay agenda." They being one lone proud lesbian parent. Whose agenda is to get her daughter to eat more vegetables.

Also depends on how heavy the agenda is. And this one shot from "get daughter to eat veggies" to demonstrate to smug, homophobic right wing bloggers that there is power behind a message of love. Even if it's mostly about loving if the daughter eats more veggies.
