Gates considering firing Joint Chiefs Chairman Pace
Is Sec Def Bob Gates considering firing Joint Chiefs Chairman Peter Pace? The Post says that's the rumor at the Pentagon. http://talkingpointsmemo.com/

That would certainly be an improvement...get another fantasy land general out of the mix.

1. If you could eat rumors, Washington would be providing free lunches
into the forseeable future.

considering replacing the toilet-paper roll when you've used the very last sheet.

...

(We need someone (new) in this position that doesn't take any bullshit from anyone... anyone.)

3. I am not entirely sure that he can
I believe the Chairman might be outside of his chain of command. Could be wrong, on that point.

6. If the SOD wants to replace the Chair, he can.
Doesn't make that a good idea, though.

7. No, he isn't
The civilian links in the chain for all active duty military is through the branch Secretary to the SecDef to the CinC.

4. Wow, Gates wants his own 'yes' men instead of Rummy's
I'm shocked, water is wet and film at eleven.

5. What makes you certain "that would be an improvement"?
Pace was one of the few officers who stood up publicly and said that Rummy and Bush's accusations that Iran was supplying IEDs to Iraqi insurgents was unproven.

He's been opposed to expanding this hideous war.

No, I wouldn't be so certain that we'd be getting someone better.

9. My impression is different
He's said just enough 'truth' when it was all so obvious that it couldn't be helped and people congratulated him on it, which I find funny.

He's in the middle of the tornado and likely won't want to have any changes that make what he has done look foolish....like most everything in this clusterfuck.

Clean house. Get some new people in. Find a way to get out.....ASAP. That's what I'm hoping for. I'm in the minority here thinking that is what Gates wants as well. Time will tell.

10. This appears to be a big scapegoat ploy to deflect the blame from the Idiot-in-Chief

"He was right all along only his underlings just fucked it up." Sounds right like the best spin they can spread, now they sell it through the corporate media whores to a public who bought the need for this war in the first place. They only need to trick about 15 to 20% of public opinion to put dimson back on his throne.
