HAHAHAHAHAAAAA! Creator of unfunny right-wing comic strip Mallard Fillmore arrested

Edward Bruce Tinsley, creator of the conservative comic strip Mallard Fillmore, was arrested in Columbus Dec. 4 and charged with operating a vehicle under the influence -- his second alcohol-related arrest in less that four months, according to the Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department.

Tinsley, 48, who lives in Columbus, had a blood-alcohol level of 0.14 -- almost twice the level at which an Indiana driver is considered intoxicated. He posted $755 bond.

THIS is how bad Mallard Fillmore is: I didn't realize it was meant to be the anti-Doonesbury until I became a DU-er! I shed no tears when the New York Daily News dropped it--I just thought it was just a really bad comic strip. I hope Tinsely's drinking jags have been the result of his losing even more business: thanks to the election, he can no longer bully publications into carrying him on the grounds that they're too liberal!

Many's the time I've stared at a Mallard Fillmore strip and wondered what portion of it was meant to be funny. Is the idea that right-wing talking points magically become funny when they are repeated by a duck?

I guess for some people that probably works.

Well, I'm glad they got him off the road before he killed anyone. Maybe if he goes into rehab, there'll be a hiatus in Mallard Fillmore. He dries out, the roads of Columbus are safer, the newspapers put something funny into that slot. Everybody wins!

33. Microsoft fonts basically suck

I've collected tons of non-MS fonts from other sources. The one I used is called "Comic Book". There's a lot of similar ones out there. Just do a Google search for 'comic font' or the name of whatever font you want. The majority of them are free.

I just had to get rid of that horrid Comic Sans font on that strip.

Too bad I couldn't find a font to replicate Bruce Tinsley's bad handwriting. Then again, maybe that's a good thing.
