A Thank You From Straight Story and Myself |
|
Edited on Tue Dec-12-06 11:58 AM by AutumnMist
Good Morning fellow DU'ers! I cannot begin to express my heartfelt gratitude for all of the kind wishes and support that we have received in the last several days. To all of those that donated....thank you..to all of of those that could not and offered their support through kind words and support...I thank you. I know that those two words cannot begin to explain the hope that you have given my family for our future. Thank you cannot express the joy that we felt after being given the amazing gift of friendship, brotherhood, and compassion that all of you have extended to us. My heart is full and for the first time in a long time Christmas is going to be an amazing reminder of what it should be about...loving one another regardless of whats under the tree. Santa truly does exist and he/she lives right here at DU.
I sat in the terminal at O'Hare and wept tears of joy and gratitude in front of hundreds of people after receiving a phone call from my husband explaining to me everything that had happened. I can only hope that the people surrounding me had a sense of the humble happiness that I felt. We are a family here at DU and I truly felt blessed to be a part of such an amazing group of people. All of you have changed our lives, you restored a sense of hope and wonderment about the world that we live in. How can one tell you what that means to us? Only thank you comes to mind, but there is so much more I wish I could say to describe what we truly feel today. May all of you walk in this world today knowing that you changed the lives of not only one family but many others through your kindness and that is a gift that is more profound and meaningful then anything that can ever be bought or sold in this world. Our door is always open and our support is always here to everyone here at DU. Giving back the gift that we have received is the very least we could do. What a beautiful powerful lesson. Once again I thank you....all of you. Peace and love-
Chris

We are a family here, and care about each other. May you and your family always know that there are people who might not recognize you if they met you on the street, but who have a deeper sense of recognition, that of one person who cares about others. I hope you and Straight Story always walk in the knowledge that there is truly nothing but love to sustain us through life. Thank you, AutumnMist.

There are a number of DUers who could use some help this year. I could only help one. I hope everyone who could help someone is. Together we can help a lot of people :grouphug:

14. What these DU fundraisers mean to me is that |
|
more and more people will get the idea of paying it forward and the idea that even a little bit of help goes a long way when a lot of people join in.
We saw it the first time when we raised $50,000 in just a couple of days for Andy Stephenson's surgery.
I am not religious, but the old saying about lighting one little candle has always struck me as true wisdom.
