Will some of you quit letting the RW dictate your position? |
|
The RW has made Cindy Sheehan out to be some looney nutjob, some extremist. So all of a sudden, we have people scrambling to disassociate themselves with her. Why? Because they don't want to be labelled a nutjob for supporting Sheehan? Do you really think the gophers are going to respect you any more for rolling over on her?
I realize many of the anti-Sheehan attacks on this board are probably FIDs (freepers in disguise), but I think there are also some who are genuinely ashamed to be associated with her. It just goes to show how well the Rove Machine has been at demonizing his opponents.

6. This happens everytime someone steps forward to challenge BushCo |
|
Whether it's Cindy, Michael Moore, or whomever, the response is the same - label them as the "extreme left", keep pounding that message over and over, until many people just automatically equate the two. And since not very many people really want to consider themselves "extremists", they decide that they can't support people like Cindy and Moore. What have either of these two really done to warrant that distinction? Speak their minds? Tell the TRUTH? Gee, I guess that makes all of us extremists!

4. I'm in her corner all the way!!.... |
|
She's made her bones, paid her dues, she has stood up consistently and forcefully. Which other person or politician can claim that?
Talk is cheap, she's done things. Let whoever wants to "disassociate" himself from her go, and don't let the door hit them in the ass on their way out!

we can seperate. we can support her for all she does and value all she does, and know..... she doesnt give a shit about dems. i suspect she has always been republican. and i suspect she probably still is. just a total guess. she is a mama pissed that her son died in this illegal war. she gets lots of grace from me

5. are you implying i am not informed. that i dont know what i am talking |
|
has sheehan told you she is a democratic supporter? because i have heard her say she is not. she went to our democrats during election, and they were kind enough to sit with her and talk to her, and she mouthed off what i felt was inappropriately and not totally honest. ok, not honest. i cut her slack because of what she is doing and i respect that. i respect her strength and value her cause, but i dont have to be impressed with the woman. she is not opposed to hurting democrats for her cause. that is fine with me, because i know what she is doing has nothing to do with the democrats. but dont tell me i am buying into any bullshit. i am quite capable of listening to people, listening to their words, and actions and deciding for myself.
moore isnt a democrat either. he has his agenda too. i can say thank you to moore for what he does, but i know he isnt in my camp
who is the one buying a story? i dont think it is me. and it isnt making cindy less. it is honoring who she really is. it isnt bashing cindy to be honest

7. Ding, ding, we have a winner here!!! |

Everyone should stop for a moment and realize that Cindy Sheehan is still after all a Gold Star mother.
That in itself should afford her some respect from everyone.
The hardest thing any parent has to do is bury a child.

No one is ashamed of her.
Most of my criticism is aimed at the hyperventilating done by people on "our side" if I make a simple observation.
The big thread here tonight was "Cindy doesn't speak for me"
Well, so what?
Does that mean that Ruggerson is a freeper?
No. Not in the slightest.
There are people on these boards who wince when they see Cindy on tv or her here on radio. Not because they disagree with her. But because we understand how this is playing out. We know, when we go to work with regular non-politicals, that they'll be like "wow, that lady is whacko." Or, "wow, she's been through so much, it's not surprising that she's like this"
The media made her a face for the anti-war movement, and the media smeared her and the movement.
Well, I was against the way before Cindy Sheehan went to Crawford. And I hate the way Americans want to turn every grassroots struggle into an individual struggle.
I grew tired of the Sheehan circus back when she was in Crawford. It was effective for awhile. But it was way to easy for the media to spin it and turn it against us after a certain point.
Now she's talking about running for Senate?
Sheesh.

11. Demonizing Cindy Sheehan |
|
Is much harder for the right to do than demonizing someone else, like Howard Dean or Michael Moore.
She was arrested for wearing a t-shirt, without any hate speech or cuss words on it.
Hopefully most Americans will recognize this for the atrocity that it is, but somehow I doubt it.

12. Only a "nut job" would have the guts to do what Cindy does. |
|
All the regular people think they have got too much to lose. It's always been this way, guys like Chris Matthews & regular people have never changed anything, look at the people who ended the Vietnam war.
