I just want to say this in light of the many threads debating holiday symbols. I don't give a flying fig about traditions of any belief system or if your tradition is to have no symbols at all. Do what you will with your belief about the universe and your relation to it. Just don't make it the governing belief system. Live and let live.

3. Well, I'll disagree with you on the government property issue. |
|
I don't think religious displays belong in government buildings on on government property. If you want a religious display in your yard or on your house or in your churchyard or place of worship, it doesn't bother me at all. Those types of symbols belong in places of worship or the home. Corporations are businesses and make all kinds of decisions based upon profit motives. If someone critized a corporation for not displaying pictures of Paris Hilton, someone in management would make sure that pictures of Paris Hilton were slapped on the front of every store in that chain....and possibly your can of peaches, frozen teevee dinner, breakfast cereal, ....etc.

7. Isn't this the problem with just about everything ? |
|
There seems to always be those who want their stance to be shared by all and if not they make a big deal about it .
I like diversity , I don;t care if it is happy holidays or merry christmass .
Of course I am old now and what I miss is the true spirit of the holidays which was the main idea of it all to me .
There is also the idea america was a melting pot but now it has gone back to separate areas as it was when I was a kid living in chicago .
I certainly have no answer for any thing other than to say some issues are brought up and bantered about until the entire idea become one huge pile of spoil . Just the fact that x-mass has been a commercial buyer holiday is bad enough and it has gotten worse so really the spirit is dying off because to this very reason .
