18. Johnson was smarter in the way he worked it.
I remember "leaks" about sending 100,000 more troops which raised all kinds of hell. Then the bastard got on TV and announced that the "rumors" were absurd...that he was sending "only" 50,000. Then everyone breathed a big sigh of relief and he was a hero for being so "moderate".

It will be interesting to see if Bush plays the same game.

36. Don't count on it.
It will be advertised as a "temporary measure" made at the "request" of the brilliant generals and the "Democratic" government of Iraq to "stabilize" the situation only until the "American Trained Iraqi Armed Forces" can "preserve the democratic government" of Iraq.

Of course the "temporary" measure will not have (God forbid) any sort of time limit on it, and will have to be funded to "support our troops" until the "mission is accomplished"..oh, wait, "until stability is achieved".

12. No Surprise there --- He Will Keep The Plate Spinning As Long As We Let Him
He will never change course, because that would mean he was wrong --and to this day he cannot think of any mistake he has ever made.

I predict a train wreck is coming. He is going to increase troops in Iraq rather than draw them down.

44. It was McCain that has said that more
troops are needed in Iraq.Senator John McCain very clearly stated that if additional troops aren't sent into Iraq, the war will be unwinnable, and if that becomes the case, McCain said, he "cannot" ask soldiers to return to Iraq. This would be "immoral,".
If no troops are sent, then the Dems should raise the question, Is McCain going to stop supporting the troop presence in Iraq and call for withdrawal, which he said it would be immoral to ask troops to return to Iraq?
If after an increase in troops sent from America and not in country and sent to the green zone and the violence continues and soldiers continue to die, How can MCCain say this was his idea and it worked once the U.S. begins leaving?

Seems in direct contradiction to the message the American people sent at November's election. imho.

"Operation, Together Forward," the violence we were trying to suppress
increased by 43%.

I think it's WELL past time for a draft of College Republicans! College Repukes: do your duty and go "fight them over there"! The "strange" thing is, all the young Repukes I talk to seem to have some sort of mystery "medical issue" which prevents them from signing up...

24. Will not be a shock. Guys Presidents have played this before?
He has 2 years to take over the country and make it in his images and I am sure he will try. Both the Us and Iraq. Congress is not going to take its real job back like war and trade. And most voters do not care. We need a arm of the Dem. party to be called 'we want our constitution back'party.

25. Time for Democrats to take a stand
Despite the fact that this war should never have happened in the first place, as a practical matter the time for more troops was 3
years ago, not now.

Congress needs to make it abundantly clear that they don't support sending more troops and that they will stop it because they will not fund such a request.

30. Again, the people have spoken, and if the Bushboy won't listen,
It is up to that fine Democratic majority that we just elected to step up and put an end to this madness. NO MORE FUNDING, PERIOD! Force the bastard to bring our troops home by any means necessary. And frankly, if Hillary, Kerry, Lieberman or any others are unwilling to do this, then we have to make them aware that they will be kicked to the curb to come their next election. The American people spoke loudly on election day, no more war. If Bush boy refuses to comply, we have to cut him off at the knees. If Democrats refuse to comply, them we have to cut them down too. This is our country, our government, and if our represenatives refuse to follow our direction, then we have to put in somebody who will.

35. Your pic reminds me of...
one of the differences between LBJ and Dumbya.

LBJ may have sent me and hundreds of thousands of others to the Southeast Asian War Games, but sometimes it actually bothered him.

Apparently, he sometimes stayed up late to get the casualty reports.

He knew he was doing wrong, but didn't know how to get out of it...."I knew that if I left my one true love... the Great Society... to go with that Bitch of a war, I would lose everything...."

Dumbya never had a thought about casualties and sure as hell never doubted his own stupid strategery.

into the Sunni Triangle. As many as 20K will be sent in to gain control over the territory. The Busholini Regime will not give up this territory without an all out fight. Fiasco is an understatement!

The President is a CRIMINAL!

He's continuing to endanger American lives while wasting American taxpayer dollars to chase down a destroyed ideology!!

Poppy gave him a chance to withdraw from Iraq under political cover. Baker was sent to save the Fortunate Frat-Boy's ass but the Frat-Boy is TOO FUCKING STUPID to realize it!

He's throwing a goddamn tantrum and taking down American men and women (and countless Iraqis) in the process!

Edited on Wed Dec-13-06 10:38 AM by Neecy
Yesterday I heard a GOP shill speculate on CNN that chimpy would increase troop levels in Iraq...yes, this is his thoughtful "plan"...I believe the reason for the delay in announcing it is that the White House is trying to figure out how to sell this evil scheme to the American public. They're floating it now to see if the public, numbed by the Christmas hoopla and intent on landing a PlayStation 3, even gives a shit.
