I know we voted to stop this occupation , however |

There are no charts that state this clearly , is it just a popular idea ?
My point is , Even without daily coffins shown or other direct evidence of the horrid massive death , I do feel most american had to have some idea this was wrong from the start but really did not try to stop it , ie , a full out none stop protest from the start .
Now I wonder still just how much the average american citizen really thinks about the death and if they are tuned into this to the point where they will not tolerate it any longer .
It seems if people are not directly affected they tend to put it in the back of their minds just like many people who still have a good job that has not been affected yet or Katrina victims loosing everything , this too has not affected the population directly so they don't give it much thought .
As sad as this seems it does seem to ring true for the most part . Polls about how many are against this occupation in Iraq do not really give a good picture of reality for me anyway .

1. I think that ending the occupation is a great goal. |

I think that we (dems) shoot ourselves in the foot with the way we go about it. We need a resolution to do exactly that. I have heard on Air America proposals to stop funding the war. This create the perception that we are weak on defense. Honestly to quit funding troops that are in the field is not the way to go about it. Bring them home. Do not cut off funds that they rely on for their own security.(the troops security) I have advanced the idea that we should redeploy them from Iraq to Darfur. It would keep us in the vicinity in case we are need there. We should deploy there as a humanitarian mission.
