IRONY ALERT!! Today's Mallard Fillmore...
Edited on Tue Dec-12-06 03:48 PM by Bicoastal
So...did anyone think today's news surrounding Bruce Tinsley couldn't get any more pathetic (in a oddly satisfying sort of way)? Check out today's strip here--

http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/fun/mallard.asp

Nope, it's not another Ted Kennedy/Chappaquiddick cartoon, but it's still a lovely coincidence.

1. Fake Eggnog?
Y'know I'm no fan, but that's hardly partisan humor...

Or is about Bruce becoming a lush?

5. I think it was an attempted culture war slam.
he perhaps thinks that the supermarkets used to sell 'real' eggnog back before the damn libruls screwed everything up?

3. Tinsley wasn't driving drunk
He just wanted to finish off that carton of egg nog. It all makes sense now.

7. Maybe next time he should try the
Vicodin and Pot defense that Nicole Ritchie hit the LAPD with last night.

4. The idgit doesn't know that you are supposed to add the booze??
As usual, even under the circumstances, mal-lard is not even funny, nor does it make any valid point.

6. God, this is not funny!
How in God's name did this drunk get into the comic business?

8. I hadn't heard the news. Figures.
I also understand he started that Gawd-awful strip here; Virginia regrets the error.

Some of the Indy Star's comments on the story are choice, BTW:

Maybe his complete lack of talent and brains has finally started getting to him. I know it's been bugging me for years.

I think Mallard Fillmore needs to take a little hunting trip with the vice president, if you catch my drift.

Mallard Fillmore Beersteins, Please.

So what's the sentence for drawing cartoons drunk? An entire year of telling the same three stupid jokes over and over again?

.....

Chatty Kathy
Washington, DC

This explains a lot: The strip reads like it was written by a rage-filled, reality-challenged alcoholic who uses booze to hide from the truth. I wonder what Michael "Savage" Weiner's driving record looks like?

.....

Milwaukee Matt
Bronx, NY

Gee, if the policies and the president I supported had gotten us stuck in a thankless, nightmarish Middle Eastern civil war and handed Iran and Al Qaeda bigger gifts than they ever could have dreamed of, I'd probably be hitting the bottle too. Especially if my cartoons were less funny than "Cathy" on a bad week.

.....

Birmingham, AL

This is why the Star should drop Mallard Fillmore for a far better conservative strip like Prickly City.

Via the Transitive Property of Comic Strips, we can see that:

Mallard Fillmore = Prickly City = Day By Day = not funny.

9. For all conservatives - Never have to read Mallard Fillmore again
First panel - Liberal strawman says something stupid to Mallard. Mallard offers counter-argument

Second panel - Mallard continues argument. Liberal strawman offers up counter-counter argument even stupider than his original statement. Note: Second panel is normally done in shilouette with white eyes so artist doesn't have to draw as much.

Third panel - close-up of Mallard's face with one eyebrow cocked and thought balloon with what is meant to be a witty comment on how stupid liberals are.

There, Freepers. I just saved you 10-15 minutes (guessing that's your reading speed for a single comic) every morning.
